<strong>The</strong> Information Technology Division includes the Office<br />
<strong>of</strong> Information Technology, which is the lead <strong>of</strong>fice, the<br />
Office <strong>of</strong> Network & Technology Resources and the Technology<br />
Services Section.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Information Technology Division is responsible for the<br />
operation <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Court</strong>’s information technology systems and<br />
processes, including the development and maintenance <strong>of</strong><br />
the <strong>Court</strong>’s computer networks, databases, s<strong>of</strong>tware programs,<br />
copiers, telephones, and audiovisual technologies, as well as<br />
designing and implementing strategic and tactical acquisition<br />
plans for the purchase <strong>of</strong> technology resources. Further, the<br />
division provides guidance to other courts on technologyrelated<br />
matters, and facilitates the development <strong>of</strong> statewide<br />
information technology standards for the courts <strong>of</strong> <strong>Ohio</strong>.<br />
Office <strong>of</strong> Information Technology<br />
<strong>The</strong> Office <strong>of</strong> Information Technology primarily is<br />
responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the<br />
various information systems and applications used by the <strong>Court</strong><br />
and its affiliated <strong>of</strong>fices.<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice also is responsible for the development and<br />
implementation <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Ohio</strong> <strong>Court</strong>s Network (OCN), which,<br />
when completed, will link all <strong>Ohio</strong> courts with justice-system<br />
partners, including the Attorney General’s Office, Bureau <strong>of</strong><br />
Motor Vehicles and the <strong>Ohio</strong> <strong>State</strong> Highway Patrol, to name a<br />
few.<br />
<strong>The</strong> development <strong>of</strong> OCN proceeded on time during 2008.<br />
Project highlights from the year include:<br />
• Completion <strong>of</strong> contracts with all remaining major<br />
case-management-system vendors to develop OCN<br />
connectivity to their products. <strong>The</strong> signed contracts<br />
represent more than 90 percent <strong>of</strong> <strong>Ohio</strong> courts to be<br />
connected to OCN in the future.<br />
• Completion <strong>of</strong> the memorandum <strong>of</strong> understanding<br />
with the Attorney General’s Office to connect OCN to<br />
the Bureau <strong>of</strong> Criminal Information & Investigation<br />
Computerized Criminal History database. <strong>The</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice<br />
completed the technical connections and began<br />
testing the data queries.<br />
• Implementation <strong>of</strong> a site-to-site virtual private network<br />
with the Bureau <strong>of</strong> Motor Vehicles.<br />
