106 court <strong>of</strong> appeals opinions required 4,057 pages. Overall,<br />
the Office <strong>of</strong> the Reporter was responsible for the content <strong>of</strong><br />
approximately 9,000 pages <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Ohio</strong> Official Reports advance<br />
sheets during 2008.<br />
In addition, during 2008, the Office <strong>of</strong> the Reporter posted<br />
428 <strong>Supreme</strong> <strong>Court</strong> opinions and 314 case announcements<br />
and administrative actions to the <strong>Supreme</strong> <strong>Court</strong> Web site. <strong>The</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong>fice staff also posted 5,859 court <strong>of</strong> appeals opinions, 369<br />
<strong>Court</strong> <strong>of</strong> Claims opinions and 39 trial court opinions to the<br />
<strong>Supreme</strong> <strong>Court</strong>’s site.<br />
Law Library<br />
<strong>The</strong> Law Library <strong>of</strong>fers research assistance and online<br />
database access to both <strong>Court</strong> staff and public patrons. In 2008,<br />
the Library served more than 6,300 public patrons, answered<br />
nearly 10,000 reference questions, circulated about 1,600<br />
books and provided nearly 80,000 photocopies. Library staff<br />
also assisted the state’s prison population by responding to<br />
4,304 letters requesting research help or documents, which<br />
required the Library to provide nearly 240,000 additional<br />
photocopies. Additionally, the staff checked in and distributed<br />
more than 21,000 items, and processed more than 22,000 item<br />
records from the Law Library’s collection <strong>of</strong> materials.<br />
During 2008, the Law Library expanded its electronic<br />
resources available to <strong>Court</strong> staff and the public and continued<br />
to increase its reputation among the local and state library<br />
communities in the areas <strong>of</strong> legal research and resource<br />
sharing.<br />
Law Library staff members also continue involvement with<br />
projects, associations and committees outside the <strong>Court</strong>,<br />
including the Columbus and <strong>Ohio</strong> bar associations, the <strong>Ohio</strong><br />
Library Support Staff Institute, <strong>Ohio</strong> Law Libraries Consortium,<br />
<strong>Ohio</strong> Regional Association <strong>of</strong> Law Libraries, American<br />
Association <strong>of</strong> Law Libraries, and the <strong>Ohio</strong> Electronic Records<br />
Committee.<br />
