Levy – Grant Scheme<br />

Compulsory tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g levy 1% <strong>of</strong> total basic salary<br />

and is collected by HRDC.<br />

Levy goes to the tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g budget <strong>of</strong> IVTB and<br />

<strong>in</strong>vestment <strong>in</strong> tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>frastructure.<br />

Grant is paid to bus<strong>in</strong>esses that pay the levy as<br />

well as send staff for tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g at recognised<br />

<strong>in</strong>stitutions.<br />

regulator conduct tracer studies <strong>of</strong> former<br />

tra<strong>in</strong>ees and employers to evaluate<br />

effectiveness <strong>of</strong> tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g programs.<br />

Recognition <strong>of</strong> SMEs<br />

Mostly larger bus<strong>in</strong>esses were tak<strong>in</strong>g<br />

advantage <strong>of</strong> the levy-grant grant.<br />
