Company’s <strong>history</strong>; <strong>rise</strong> <strong>in</strong><br />
sales by more than 70 percent<br />
Constance, 30 March 2005 – In <strong>the</strong> past fiscal year 2004,<br />
<strong>Sunways</strong> <strong>AG</strong> (ISIN DE0007332207, ISIN DE000A0BNPN0)<br />
achieved <strong>the</strong> best <strong>annual</strong> <strong>result</strong> <strong>of</strong> its corporate <strong>history</strong>. Sales<br />
rose by almost 73 percent. The <strong>result</strong> for <strong>the</strong> year confirmed<br />
<strong>the</strong> good <strong>result</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> third quarter 2004. A twodigit sales<br />
growth is aga<strong>in</strong> anticipated for <strong>the</strong> current year.<br />
In <strong>the</strong> fiscal year 2004, <strong>Sunways</strong> <strong>AG</strong> generated sales <strong>of</strong> 66.9<br />
million Euro (prior year: 38.7 million Euro) and EBIT <strong>of</strong> 3.1<br />
million Euro (prior year: 2.1 million Euro). Consolidated net<br />
<strong>in</strong>come amounted to 1.6 million Euro (prior year: 1.6 million<br />
Euro). Earn<strong>in</strong>gs per share were 0.16 Euro (prior year: 0.17<br />
Euro).<br />
As <strong>of</strong> 31 December 2004, <strong>Sunways</strong> had 117 employees (prior<br />
year: 108). 32 percent <strong>of</strong> sales were generated <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> solar cell<br />
division (prior year: 39 percent), 68 percent <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> systems<br />
bus<strong>in</strong>ess (prior year: 61 percent).<br />
Accord<strong>in</strong>g to Management Board member Roland Burkhardt,<br />
<strong>in</strong> 2004 <strong>the</strong> entire solar <strong>in</strong>dustry benefited from <strong>the</strong><br />
amendment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Law on Renewable Energies (Erneuerbare<br />
EnergienGesetzEEG) and <strong>the</strong> dissolution <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> pileup <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>in</strong>vestment projects which had developed after <strong>the</strong> expiration<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 100,000 ro<strong>of</strong>s program <strong>in</strong> summer 2003. Due to <strong>the</strong><br />
strong demand, <strong>the</strong> Company has already sold <strong>of</strong>f its stock up<br />
to <strong>the</strong> yearend 2005.<br />
In 2004, <strong>Sunways</strong> expanded its capacities at <strong>the</strong> Constance<br />
plant from 12 to 16 megawatt. An important performer was<br />
among o<strong>the</strong>rs <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sunways</strong> Solar Inverter <strong>of</strong> which 4,800 units<br />
were sold <strong>in</strong> 2004.<br />
The subsidiary MHH Solartechnik GmbH, headquartered <strong>in</strong><br />
Tüb<strong>in</strong>gen, cont<strong>in</strong>ues to be among <strong>the</strong> ten largest system<br />

eview, <strong>the</strong> enterp<strong>rise</strong> recorded a sales growth <strong>of</strong> 80 percent<br />
aga<strong>in</strong>st 2003 and had a market share <strong>of</strong> about five percent. A<br />
new distribution <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>in</strong> Munich has been <strong>in</strong> charge <strong>of</strong><br />
customer relations <strong>in</strong> Bavaria, Austria and Switzerland s<strong>in</strong>ce<br />
April 2004.<br />
The construction <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> manufactur<strong>in</strong>g plant <strong>in</strong> Arnstadt /<br />
Thur<strong>in</strong>gia with a production capacity <strong>of</strong> 30 megawatt is<br />
progress<strong>in</strong>g accord<strong>in</strong>g to plan. <strong>Sunways</strong> Production GmbH will<br />
start production <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> second half <strong>of</strong> 2005.<br />
The target <strong>of</strong> <strong>Sunways</strong> is to aga<strong>in</strong> achieve a twodigit sales<br />
<strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> 2005, to expand its distribution activities <strong>in</strong> Spa<strong>in</strong> and<br />
to <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>gly position itself as a manufacturer <strong>of</strong> special solar<br />
cells.<br />
