Company’s history; rise in
sales by more than 70 percent
Constance, 30 March 2005 – In the past fiscal year 2004,
Sunways AG (ISIN DE0007332207, ISIN DE000A0BNPN0)
achieved the best annual result of its corporate history. Sales
rose by almost 73 percent. The result for the year confirmed
the good result of the third quarter 2004. A twodigit sales
growth is again anticipated for the current year.
In the fiscal year 2004, Sunways AG generated sales of 66.9
million Euro (prior year: 38.7 million Euro) and EBIT of 3.1
million Euro (prior year: 2.1 million Euro). Consolidated net
income amounted to 1.6 million Euro (prior year: 1.6 million
Euro). Earnings per share were 0.16 Euro (prior year: 0.17
Euro).
As of 31 December 2004, Sunways had 117 employees (prior
year: 108). 32 percent of sales were generated in the solar cell
division (prior year: 39 percent), 68 percent in the systems
business (prior year: 61 percent).
According to Management Board member Roland Burkhardt,
in 2004 the entire solar industry benefited from the
amendment of the Law on Renewable Energies (Erneuerbare
EnergienGesetzEEG) and the dissolution of the pileup of
investment projects which had developed after the expiration
of the 100,000 roofs program in summer 2003. Due to the
strong demand, the Company has already sold off its stock up
to the yearend 2005.
In 2004, Sunways expanded its capacities at the Constance
plant from 12 to 16 megawatt. An important performer was
among others the Sunways Solar Inverter of which 4,800 units
were sold in 2004.
The subsidiary MHH Solartechnik GmbH, headquartered in
Tübingen, continues to be among the ten largest system
houses for solar technology in Germany. In the year under

eview, the enterprise recorded a sales growth of 80 percent
against 2003 and had a market share of about five percent. A
new distribution office in Munich has been in charge of
customer relations in Bavaria, Austria and Switzerland since
April 2004.
The construction of the manufacturing plant in Arnstadt /
Thuringia with a production capacity of 30 megawatt is
progressing according to plan. Sunways Production GmbH will
start production in the second half of 2005.
The target of Sunways is to again achieve a twodigit sales
increase in 2005, to expand its distribution activities in Spain and
to increasingly position itself as a manufacturer of special solar
cells.
