Chapter 14 Test Tools and Debugging Tools If an X device needs to be operated when the program is tested, users can click on the toolbar to enable the function of setting the X device. However, the state of the X device will not be updated after the function is enabled. After the online monitoring function is disabled, the function of setting the X device will not be disabled automatically. As a result, be sure to disable the function of setting the X device before the online monitoring function is disabled lest the state of the X device should not be updated during the operation of the PLC. Before the state of a contact is changed, users have to make sure that the operation performed does not affect the operation of the system, or cause damage to the system or the staff, 14.1.4 Monitoring a Program Online In the program monitoring mode, users can change the state of a contact or the value in a register in the program editing window. By means of changing the state of a contact or the value in a register, users can debug or test the program. If users want to manipulate a device or an operand in a ladder diagram or a function block diagram, they can click the device or the operand, right-click the device or the operand, and select an item on the context menu. The items on the context menu vary with the programming language used. 14-7

If users want to manipulate a step or a transition in a sequential function chart, they can right-click the step or the transition, and select an item on the context menu. The items on the context menu are described below. Item Description Set On Setting the contact selected to ON Set Off Setting the contact selected to OFF Rising-edge Trigger No matter what the state of the contact selected is, the system set the contact to OFF, and then set it to ON.
