More generally speaking, this <strong>diss</strong>ertation finds the Plesiadapidae to represent a<br />

group of mammals that are unusually similar to euprimates in many aspects of their<br />

detailed morphology and inferred arboreal lifestyle (Fig. 6.1). Thus, consideration of<br />

their fossil record is integral to further studies that aim to address questions regarding the<br />

phylogenetic and ecological origins of extant primates.<br />
