proudly and victoriously on the playing field.
With your support, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School makes
available the opportunity for every student to participate while
promoting good sportsmanship, integrity, and performance
that is consistent with our mission and the Catholic education
maintained in our classrooms. After watching the student-athletes
prepare for their upcoming seasons and talking to our coaches,

BRIAN KNIGHT, ATHLETIC TRAINER
Brian Knight is the Athletic Trainer for
the Fighting Irish sports teams. Brian has
16 years experience and is a 1991 graduate
from Stow High School and received his
degree from Kent State University in 1996
in Athletic Training and Physical Education.
Brian is in his 13th year as Head Athletic
Trainer for STVM. He is currently employed
by Summa Center for Sports Health and is an outside curriculum
instructor for Kent State and The University of Akron.
Brian comments, “We had a great year in the Athletic Training
Program. We graduated one senior and have 5 students coming
back for this school year along with Kent State and The University
of Akron students. In addition, Dr. Magoline and Dr. Kerr are back
as team physicians for the upcoming sports seasons.”
Brian and his wife Lisa reside in Stow and they have two
children, T.J. and Drew.

HEAD COACH ANGELA SUTTER
Head Coach Angela Sutter
continues her first year as Head
Coach for the Fighting Irish
Cheerleaders. In addition, Co-Coach
responsibilities will be held by Joe
Neal. Coach Sutter has an extensive
background in the cheerleading
arena and is a 2004 graduate of
St. Vincent-St. Mary High School.
Not only did Coach cheer at STVM but also cheered in college
at the University of Dayton. Coach Sutter graduated in 2008
with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Coach Sutter is
currently working in the Copley Fairlawn City School District.
Coach Sutter comments, “This year we have a great group
of girls with a lot of talent. We are going to work hard to learn
more as individual athletes and as a team. We look forward to
what this season will bring!”
BAND DIRECTOR BRIAN CAMPBELL
This marks Mr. Campbell’s 15th
year at the helm of the music
department at STVM. Anyone who
has followed the Irish over the past
years has to be impressed with
the growth in numbers and talent
– all attributed to Mr. Campbell’s
hard work and dedication to the
program. In addition to Marching
Band, he directs the Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band
and Pit Orchestra as well as teaches Music Appreciation. The
Fighting Irish Marching Band was proud to march and perform
in the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade and looks forward
to returning to Disney World in Orlando, Florida this coming
school year. The Fighting Irish Marching Band has performed
in Chicago, Cincinnati, New York City, and at Disney World,
Orlando, Florida.
Mr. Campbell also teaches at Immaculate Heart of Mary,
St. Hilary, St. Francis de Sales, St. Vincent, St. Matthew and Holy
Family Elementary Schools.
Mr. Campbell and his wife, Tracy and their two daughters,
Brenna and Kylie live in Wadsworth.

Dru Joyce enters his 12th year at
STVM as the Head Coach for the
STVM Boys Varsity Basketball Team.
Coach Joyce brings 15 years of
coaching experience to the Fighting
Irish Boys Basketball program. His
career record is 212-57.
Coach Joyce comments, “Last
year’s team won the District Title
and lost in the Regional Final. The team worked its way through
a lot of struggles to make it to that regional final. This year
we will be young and inexperienced but with commitment to
growth and team, we have a chance to be very special.”
Coach Joyce and his wife, Carolyn reside in Fairlawn and
have four adult children (Ursula, India, Dru III VM03, and
Cameron VM10).

Head Coach Tracie Fink begins

Coach Fink graduated from
Wadsworth High School in 1984
having earned a 4-year letter in
Gymnastics and was named the
M.V.P. in 1984. Coach has four years
coaching experience and has served
for many years in the Army Reserves.
Coach Fink comments on last year and her goals for the
coming season: “It is exciting to be involved with this new
program at STVM. As you might know, Marie Hammer
competed last year and placed 13th All Round in Sectional at
Medina and advanced to Districts on Vault and Bars. This year
we are pleased to have a talented group of dedicated gymnasts
pursue the excellence of the sport. We have a great outlook on
the upcoming 2012-2013 season.”
Coach Fink and her 3 children, Heather, Ryan, and Sarah, live
in Akron.

School as an Intervention Specialist
assisting students with disabilities.
Her background in dance culminated
with a Degree in Dance Education
K-12 from Kent State University.
Assisting Coach Morton is Jan Giles (featured on the left).
Coach Giles is in her 3rd year assisting with Irish Dance. She works
at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in the Advancement Office
as the Manager of Advancement Services. Her background in
dance stems from her involvement as a student of dance during
her school years and as a high school cheerleader.
Coach Giles comments, “After an amazing year where our
Irish Dancers performed at a variety of venues including the
NYC St. Patrick’s Day parade, we are anxious to see where this
year will take us.”
Coach Morton is married to Walter and they have four
children and two grandchildren.
Coach Giles is married to Jeff and they have two sons,
Graham VM10 and Jack VM14.

Joe Jakubick enters his 9th year as Head
Coach of the Fighting Irish Girls Basketball
Team while lengthening his coaching
career to 17 years. Coach Jakubick states,
“With so much anticipation leading up to
this season, so much hard work in the offseason,
and the unfortunate preseason
injuries this team has endured, I have
absolutely the same expectations for this
team as I did during the preseason. That
goal is to continue our tradition of basketball excellence and prepare
this group of young ladies for what life has in store for each and every
one of them. Almost our entire team has returned this season, with a
large current junior class. Although we have lost former point guard,
Cassie Jakubick to injury, we look to have junior, Shannon Jack, to
produce immensely both offensively and defensively, junior Jordan
Korinek to dominate the paint with her large frame, junior Kiley May
to be our offensive and defensive general, senior Erica Bratton to
give our team that special spark both on and off the court, junior
new comer and transfer Alexis Taylor to provide energy and a strong
inside presence. Senior Maria Skora and junior Nicole Paolucci will
be a much needed force off the bench, as well as freshmen, Jane
Uecker and Amelia Motz will provide great memorable minutes for
the Irish. Other young players looking to provide assistance include
junior Alexa Nolte, and freshmen Octavia Loll and Alexis Handley.
This season, the competition we face is off the charts but I know that
this group is sure to be something special.”
Coach Jakubick lives in Akron and his daughter, Cassie Jakubick

HEAD COACH RON WINER
2012-2013 GIRLS BOWLING SCHEDULE
Coach Ron Winer enters his fifth
year as Head Coach for the Lady
Irish Bowling Team.
Coach Winer was a member
of the Professional Bowling
Association (PBA) for 20 years and
bowled on the Pro Tour in 1971. In
addition, Coach Winer taught a
bowling course at The University of
Akron for 3 years in the late 1970s.
Currently, Coach Winer is a partner in the CPA firm of Winer
& Bevilacqua, Inc. (located in Fairlawn, Ohio), as well as part
owner of Stonehedge Family Fun Center on Cuyahoga Falls
Avenue in Akron, Ohio.
The Lady Irish bowling team’s record last year was 9 wins and
4 losses. Coach Winer states, “We are looking forward to this
season and our 5th winning season. Our varsity team is made
up of all seniors hoping for a competitive and memorable final
season at STVM. Returning from last year’s varsity team are
seniors Celeste Hall, Kimi Gough, and Marissa McAnallen.”
Coach Winer and his wife, Kay, have three children—Natalie
VM09, a senior at John Carroll University; Maddie VM11, a
sophomore at Kent State University; and Max Winer, a high
school senior.

2012 BOYS BOWLING SCHEDULE
Head Coach Anthony Gary returns
for his 5th year as Head Coach of the
Fighting Irish Wrestling Team. Coach
Gary was a 3x High School All-
American, a 2x Ohio State Champ
High School National Champion.
In addition, Coach Gary was a 2x
NCAA Qualifier for OSU.
Coach Gary comments, “The 2011-2012 STVM Wrestling
season was a positive year for the Irish. Look for the Irish to
improve upon last year’s season with multiple state placers and
state qualifiers. It will be a very exciting season for the Irish
Wrestlers.”

Head Coach Ed Swejk, enters his
second year as Head Coach of the
Fighting Irish Boys Bowling Team.
Coach Swejk is an experienced
player and instructor of the game.
Coach Swejk comments, “With 4
returning lettermen, we should be
able to improve on last year’s 500 record. Our team has made
a lot of progress in the past two seasons. This season should
be promising and enjoyable.”
Coach Swejk lives in Akron with his wife Chrysa VM81 and
children Zachary VM14, and Ryan.
