Ohio High School Athletic Association Scholar Athlete Award Meghan Miloscia and Gabriel Pirie ❃ presented to a senior man and woman with the highest scholastic average and a minimum of four varsity letters in high school sports. The U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award Michael Shaeffer and Colleen Conrad ❃ presented to a male and a female student who have demonstrated excellence in both academics and athletics. The United States Air Force Scholastic Excellence Awards for Math and Science Alison Dain and Lauren Epner ❃ presented to a senior student for academic achievement in Mathematics and Science. Principal's Leadership Award Katherine Markovich ❃ presented to a senior who demonstrates extraordinary leadership skills. John Phillip Sousa Award Robert Dedinsky ❃ awarded to a senior who has demonstrated outstanding dedication and superior musicianship. United State Marine Corps “Semper Fidelis” Award for Musical Excellence Christopher Dremann ❃ presented by the United States Marine Corps to a high school senior who is both an outstanding performer and a truly outstanding young citizen. Salutatorian Gabriel Pirie ❃ student who earned the second highest grade point average over four years. Valedictorian Meghan Miloscia ❃ student who earned the highest grade point average over four years. Recognition from The Ohio Board of Regents Gabriel Pirie Meghan Miloscia Alison Dain Elizabeth Hoffman ❃ awarded by the Ohio Academic Scholarship Program for outstanding achievement in the Ohio high school system. One student in each school receives a $2225 scholarship from the Ohio Board of Regents. This year our recipient is Kara Kendro The Akron Beacon Journal Regional Star Awards Kevin Saunders Hilary Neumann Natalie Friess Elizabeth Mundy L-R: Michael Shaeffer II, John Cistone, Mary Jo Chionchio and Mari O’Neill L-R: Mark Cook, Headmaster David Rathz and Alison Dain Chionchio Award and Cistone Award Mari O’Neill and Michael Shaeffer II Named for St. Vincent-St. Mary High School graduates and educators John Cistone V50, legendary varsity football coach, and Mary Jo Chionchio V60, our most successful female coach, these awards are presented to the outstanding senior male and female student athletes. The recipients are exceptional athletes, have a minimum 2.3 grade point average, best exemplify leadership, sportsmanship, dependability, and character in their respective sports, and have displayed dedication and achievement in the classroom and a true commitment to St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. Knights of Columbus Manhood and Womanhood Awards Mark Cook and Alison Dain The highest accolade that St. Vincent-St. Mary High School bestows on a senior young man and young woman who have cultivated the finest characteristics of a Christian young adult. These awards recognize two exemplary seniors who have demonstrated Christian values in daily living and outstanding leadership, character, scholarship, citizenship, and generosity in participating in school events. Nominated by the members of the Class of 2008 and selected by the faculty, these graduates exemplify the very best that St. Vincent-St. Mary High School represents. 29

This is an award to honor those seniors who have shown great consistency in excellent academic performance. National Recognition Program Scholar Michael Shaeffer ❃ awarded to students of their particular ethnic group, who achieve a minimum PSAT/NMSQT/PAA score for their region and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. National Merit Commended Scholars Meghan Miloscia, Sarah Piatt and Gabriel Pirie ❃ awarded to students who score between the mid 95th percentile and the mid 99th percentile on the National Merit Scholarship Test. National Merit Finalists ❃ finalist - Elizabeth Hoffman and semi-finalist - Steven Herron semi-finalists who were in the top percent of all who took the National Merit Scholarship Test who have fulfilled additional requirements to qualify as finalists in the National Merit Scholarship competition. Chrysler Youth Citizenship Award Michael Kovarik and Shannon Phillips ❃ presented for excellence in citizenship, loyalty, leadership, participation in activities, reliability and scholarship. Recipients are nominated by the members of the Class of 2008 and selected by the faculty.
