The benefit was held on October 19th at St. Hilary’s Horning Hall and over 750 people attended to show their ongoing support to Mike, his wife Carol and two daughters Mackenzie and Melissa. Mike’s condition now requires handicap accessible renovations to their Copley home and funding to cover the immense cost of his nursing care as well as a handicap van. There were many special parts of this evening especially the wide spread community support from STVM alumni and St. Hilary School faculty, staff, parish and many school families. In addition, many supporters from surrounding parishes such as St. Sebastian, Immaculate Heart of Mary and St. Vincent attended or sent in donations. The night was capped off by an amazing surprise presented to Mike and Carol by Don M56 and his wife, Darlene Utrup. If Mackenzie and Melissa meet all requirements for entrance to St. VincentSt. Mary High School and they apply and meet all criteria of select Family and Memorial Scholarships they will be awarded $2,000 per year from the scholarship. One of Mike’s biggest goals for his daughters is that they attend his alma mater and now this should become a reality. The Dangel family, including Mike and Carol, and his parents, Tom V60 and Poochie Dangel, would like to send out their heartfelt thanks to all who contributed their time, talents, prizes, monetary contributions as well as the many prayers. They feel very blessed to have the outreach of such an amazing community during this time of challenge.
