Michael was featured in the
Fall 2007 issue of the ACTR
Letter magazine as one of
the 57 select group of
Russian students.

Excellence”
Once again this year, five
of our STVM teachers will
receive special recognition in
the April 2008 issue of Ohio
Magazine as “Teachers of
Excellence” in a Private High
School. The April 2008 issue
will recognize Gerard Neary,
Joanna Beyeler, Jen
McElhaney, Anne Bickett
and Brian Campbell as
teachers “who are making a
difference and contributing
to Ohio’s commitment in
achieving Excellence in
Education.” These five
honorees join Grace
Gorman, Lorrie Haddox,
Maureen Harrigal, Marcia
Korllos and Rita Lancianese
who were recipients in 2007.

STVM Sweeps
Bridge Building
Contest
STVM students won all the
awards at the Bridge Building
contest that was held
Saturday, February 17 at The
University of Akron. The
contest is organized by the
local chapter of the American
Society of Civil Engineers. 84
high school students
participated from schools
throughout Northeast Ohio.
Last year our students won
the strength competition, this
year we won strength and
aesthetics. Matt Gaydos won
for the best looking bridge. It
was said that it was rare for a
truss bridge to win for
aesthetics. Nat Simonetti won
the strength contest. Matt
Schwenning took second and
Kyle Sickels came in third.

Pieces Advance in
Competition
STVM sets new winning record at Northeast Central Ohio
Scholastic Art Competition.
From over 3,500 entries, ten STVM student artists earned
recognition for their original designs in the 2008 Northeast
Central Ohio Scholastic Art Competition. This year’s results
represent the greatest number of winners in our school’s
history! The Scholastic Art Awards are the largest, longest
running and most prestigious recognition program for creative
young people in the United States. All silver and gold key art
work were on display January 16 through February 9 at the
Campus Center and the Fine Arts Building of Kent State
University Stark Campus. The award ceremony honored the
accomplishments of our students on January 26, 2008. The
gold key winners will advance to the national level and have
their works displayed in Washington D.C.
