Conversations between a
Pastor and His Dog.” Father
was interviewed by The
Cleveland Plain Dealer and
the article provided this
insight into the book —
“Kraker’s book uses
imaginary conversations
with his pet to illustrate
spiritual lessons. The book
is a collection of columns
dealing with issues from
consumerism to prejudice to
hunger.”

(the 86 pound, black Lab
mix) customarily take long
walks around Akron.

Green & Gold Annual
Appeal Update
Help Make this Year the Most Successful Yet!
Each year we are truly blessed by the
contributions of our alumni, past
parents, and friends! Help us make the
Green & Gold Annual Appeal 2007-
2008 the most successful yet. Our
Green & Gold Annual Appeal
commenced in August with the
Shamrock Society Mass and then gained
further momentum with the alumni
Green & Gold Annual Appeal Phon-athon
held from November 26 to
December 13, 2007. If we missed you
during the Phon-a-thon, there is still
time to donate through June 30, 2008
when our fiscal year closes.
Green & Gold Annual Appeal gifts demonstrate your
gratitude for the Catholic education you received at St. Mary,
St. Vincent, and St. Vincent–St. Mary High Schools. Annual
Appeal gifts are a vital means of support for the general
operating budget, tuition assistance, and academic
scholarships. You do make the difference!
While tuition, which must remain affordable for our
families, is the main source for our current academic
programs, Green & Gold Annual Appeal gifts help cover the
actual cost to educate our students which exceeds tuition by
approximately $1,500.00 per student per year.

On February 5, the Irish Family
Car Raffle came to a close with
the following alumni, friends and
students in the Winner’s Circle.
First Place Winner of a 2008
Chevrolet Aveo: Derek Over

Second Place Winner of a 37-
inch LCD HDTV: Alice Terry
(student ticket)
Third Place Winner of $300
Circle K Gas Card and a roadside
assistance kit: P. Stuhldreher
(alumni ticket)
The following students will
receive tuition vouchers for selling
the most tickets.

A total of $91,000 was raised,
of which $22,000 was a result of
the alumni and friends mailing,
for the students and programs
at STVM.
“Even before the 2008 car raffle
had ended, Bob Serpentini had
generously offered to donate an
even bigger and better car for
next year — a 2009 Chevy
Malibu,” said Joanne Zaratsian,
Director of Fiscal Resources. “We
are so grateful to the Serpentinis
for making this major fundraiser
possible!”
