students to learn more about their fields of interest from
alumni and friends of the school. You will be providing
our students with first hand knowledge and insight into
the careers they hope to pursue. If you are interested in

Students meet with local businesses as part of career connections event
St. Vincent-St. Mary High School hosted its Career Connections
event on May 6, 2009. It was an exciting day as the school welcomed
home many alumni and friends who participated as mentors. Juniors
and seniors met one-on-one with professionals and completed
“Career Passports” outlining what they learned about each career.
“This was the first time we made this event part of the school
day and the response from both students and mentors was
overwhelming,” said Joanne Zaratsian, who, along with Emily Knapp,
STVM Guidance Counselor, organized the event. “It provided a
wonderful opportunity for the students to learn about a variety of
careers, while introducing area employers to potential interns and
future employees.”
Next year’s Career Connections is planned for November 4, 2009.
