2008 SHAMROCK SOCIETY MASS HONORED
OUR DEDICATED SUPPORTERS!
The 2009 Shamrock Society Mass and Reception is scheduled
for August 27, 2009. If you join the Shamrock Society or renew
your membership with an annual gift of $1,000 by June 30, 2009,
you will be invited to the Annual Shamrock Society Mass. You will
receive an official donor recognition key that will admit you and
one guest to all STVM sporting events and musical and theatrical
productions during the 2009-2010 school year. It is a wonderful
way to see how your generosity impacts the lives of our students.
SPEAKER SERIES RETURNS!
On Thursday, January 15, 2009 our speaker will be Christopher
Wilkins, Music Director of the Akron Symphony Orchestra. Under
Mr. Wilkins leadership, the Symphony has undertaken several
new initiatives including a three concert Pops series, the Akron
Symphony Chamber Choir, and the Odyssey series for famiilies.
He has made it a priority to bring the orchestra to outlying
communities, and to develop partnerships with the Akron Art
Museum, Summit County Historical Society, and Hale Farm and
Village, among others.
Born in Boston, Mr. Wilkins earned his bachelor’s degree from
Harvard College. He received his master of music degree from
Yale University, where he studied with Otto Werner-Mueller.

PARENTS’ CLUB PROPOSES AMENDMENT
TO BY-LAWS
Article IV Section 1, Article V Sections 3 & 4 and Article
VI Section 1.a “Combine the officer positions of Recording
Secretary and Corresponding Secretary into one officer
position of Secretary. Responsibilities of the Recording
Secretary and the Corresponding Secretary would then
become the responsibilities of the Secretary. The Executive
Committee would then be made up of the President, Vice
President, Secretary, Treasurer, immediate Past-President
and Principal or appointee.”
Copies of the present By-Laws are available upon request.
This Amendment will be voted upon at the regular meeting
on Wednesday, December 10, 2008. Please contact Roberta

MAHAR AND CRUSADER NOMINATIONS DUE
The STVM Alumni Council is again pleased to present the
opportunity for the STVM Family to nominate their friends and
colleagues for the 2009 Mahar Outstanding Alumni Award and
the 2009 Irish Crusader Award. The deadline for submitting
nominations for these two prestigious awards is Wednesday,
December 31, 2008. Nomination forms can be found in
“Awards and Scholarships” in the Alumni section of the STVM
website. The Annual Mahar Banquet will be held on April 23,
2009 at Tangier Restaurant.
