FRENCH CLUB HELPS
EDUCATE THE CONGO
French Club will again sponsor the Educate the Congo project for its 10th
consecutive year. In this project our STVM community contributes gently-used
educational materials to furnish learning centers that are being established in
the Democratic Republic of the Congo. As you are doing your “spring cleaning,”
this year, please consider contributing gently-used books (K-Adult), any type of
educational supplies, old sports equipment/uniforms, old bikes and electronic
equipment (working or non-working) such as: old computers, radios, cassette
players, VCRs, CD players, etc. You need not buy anything. The discarded
items from your home are treasures to the people of the Congo, who have
nothing. You may send your contributions via your student during the collection
dates March 4-8.
French Club will promote the project to the student body through morning
Channel 1 announcements and will also sponsor a spirit day on Friday, March
8 to help raise a monetary contribution. Thank you for your past and present
generous support!
BLOODMOBILE SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 8
LUCK OF THE IRISH DURING MARCH MADNESS
For all of us who are lucky to be Irish, welcome to TRIP’s version of March
Madness! Here’s a month-long special that they’re running. For every week
during the month of March, TRIP will bump up one major merchant’s rebate
percentage to 5%! The selected merchant’s gift cards will be offered at the 5%
discount rate for only that same week’s orders so you’ll need to act FAST. They
will select a different major merchant each week and will announce it via email
during each weekend in March. I’ll also request it to be listed on STVM Headlines
(the news section of the STVM website). If you’re not currently receiving emails
from TRIP and would like to be added to their distribution list, just let me know
and I’ll be sure to get you included. But you’ve got to act quickly: the fi rst March
Madness special merchant will be selected this weekend (for orders to be picked
up on March 6).
In addition, TRIP has added four new merchants (refer to the current Spring
2013 order form for the complete list of available merchants): Earth Fare, Max &
Erma’s, Adidas, Lane Bryant.
If you’ve been meaning to participate in TRIP to earn yourself some easy cash,
or want to boost your current rebate earnings, there’s no better time than now to
do so! It’s not really about being lucky but rather about being smart! By ordering
TRIP gift cards to accomplish your everyday spending and gift-giving needs, you
earn yourself cash rewards! And as always, if there are any questions about the
T.R.I.P. program, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’m here for you!
EARLY DISMISSALS SCHEDULED
During this school year, our teachers have been involved in rewriting curriculum
to address new state and national standards as well as Diocesan mandates. So
that members of departments can spend some time together to complete the
task, two 1:30 dismissal days have been calendared. On Thursday, April 18,
and Thursday, May 16, students will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. Teachers will
then use the remainder of both days for curriculum writing. Also, as a reminder,
there will be no classes on Friday, April 19 for Showcase preparations.
