St. Vincent’s Healthcare Group Limited - Annual Review 2007 Department of Palliative Medicine Education Two very successful study days titled “A Framework for End of Life Care” were facilitated by the clinical nurse specialists in conjunction with the Department of Preventive Medicine and Health Promotion. The team continues to contribute to a wide range of educational programmes for doctors, nurses and other professionals both in-house and at national meetings, as well as facilitating clinical placements for nurses undertaking the Higher Diplomas in Palliative Care Nursing and Pain Management from UCD. Achievements During 2007, Ms. Barbara Whyte, Clinical Nurse Specialist, was chairperson of the Nursing Advisory Forum of the Irish Association for Palliative Care. She also sat on the steering group for the development of a Strategic Plan for the IAPC, and on the Irish Hospice Foundation group looking at ways of expanding palliative care to patients with dementia.
