Nursing Graduation
The annual graduation ceremony took place on the 5th of July. Congratulations to all the BSc nursing
students who graduated and to those who were presented with awards. All of the graduates took up
employment in the hospital.
Plans for 2008
• Continue with the introduction of nurse prescribing.
• Introduction of in-house hygiene audit tool.
• Centralization of requests for additional HCA through the Nurse Bank office.
• Clinical Learning Environments audit in line with An Bord Altranais Standards.
• Participate in the implementation of integrated care models across the continuum of care.
• Commence implementation of recommendations of An Bord Altranais Assessment (2007)
• Preparation for the BSc nursing students new internship programme.
• Roll out of the revised medication administration record designed for use across the organisation.
• Launch of CPAP policy, and provision of CPAP education and training.
• Establishment of a training programme for procedural sedation in line with policy development in areas
such as Cardiac Cath lab and Radiology.
• Introduction of Clinical Information System in ICU in line with planned “go-live” date.
• Development of business cases for Advanced Nurse Practitioner posts in specialities based on patient
and service needs.
• Introduction of DNA CPR Guidelines.
• Participate in the implementation of the National Report on Post Graduate Nurse Education.
