Medicines Information (MI)
In August 2007, MI Databank®, a custom-built database package used in Medicines Information services in
the NHS was implemented.
The number of enquiries received increased (up to 1090 from 1049 in 2006). Enquiries, by source, are
represented below. Figures are shown from August 2007 to the end of the year (from the time the new
database was installed).
Complex medication related enquiries increased to 69% (up from 62% in 2006).
Most common types of enquiries received included administration/dosage (24%), adverse effects (17%),
choice of therapy (11%), availability/supply (7.5%) and drug interactions (7%).
