Corporate Services Division
A number of key elements are encompassed in the Corporate Services Division brief. These include Quality
& Risk Management, Information Technology, Capital Development and Statistics. During 2007 each element
was progressed.
Quality and Risk Management
Quality and Risk Management are key elements of the normal work of all divisions and departments in the
Hospital. The Best Practice Group provides an overarching framework for same. It also draws together the
work of the Health & Safety Committee, the Radiation Protection Committee and the Infection Control Group.
In 2007 the Best Practice Group received regular reports from the Group Clinical Audit Committee and the
Hospital participated in a number of the audits undertaken through the year.
The Best Practice Group membership comprises the senior management team and two representatives of
the Consultants Forum. In 2007 the participation of an external advisor was interrupted but this element will
be re-established in 2008.
The work programme of the Best Practice Group for 2007 included:
Development, review and approval of Hospital policies in conjunction with the Health & Safety Committee.

The Hospital Safety Statement (BP000) is reviewed annually and was updated in December 2007. The
Statement was approved by the Best Practice Group and distributed to staff.
