Workshop space for construction of UV units<br />

Skilled workers with basic construction <strong>and</strong> electrical expertise can be taught to manufacture<br />

UV units<br />

Hazards:<br />

<strong>Water</strong> <strong>and</strong> electricity in combination are potentially dangerous<br />

Necessary safety precautions should be taken both during manufacture <strong>and</strong> in the home<br />

Precautions should be taken to prevent the UV bulb <strong>and</strong> electrical components from getting<br />

wet if it is not enclosed with a protective quartz sleeve<br />

Maintenance<br />

Clean the bulb if it gets dirty (frequency depends on source water quality)<br />

Replace the bulb every 12 months<br />
