Barter who, with Rosie Waranok and Lise Van Der Poll, received their Duke of
Edinburgh gold awards at a ceremony at St James’s Palace on 13th March.
The awards were gained through schemes run at King Edward VI School,
Tyler House Youth Centre, in Stratford, and Alcester Grammar School.

A VOLUNTEER group of advanced motorists in
Stratford has reported the applicant demand doubling
for its Institute of Advanced Motorists
(IAM) course ‘A Skill for Life.’
The group has decided to
run two courses at the same
time and the six sessions on
alternate Sunday mornings
at Montague Road, in Warwick,
started in January.
Of some 21 applicants,
most were from Stratford
and South Warwickshire and
all will soon be ready to take
and pass their IAM
Advanced Motorist test from
early April.
Some reasons the applicants
gave for wanting to
complete the course
included, the roads being
dangerous places with
serious consequences when
a mistake was made, gaining
more confidence on the
road, and somebody was
driving extra miles due to
work so wanted to be safer
on the road.
Three had the course
bought as presents from
existing advanced motorists.
One woman was doing
the course because she learnt
about it from her daughter
who was on Stratford
group’s young driver
scheme for 16-year-olds,
off-road at Long Marston
Airfield.
Another reason included
being caught speeding and
having points on the driving
licence, while others wanted
to correct bad habits.

THE popular Italian food market is coming back to
Henley High Street on Friday 5th April featuring
everything from pasta to pizza.
The event, which has been co-ordinated by the
Beaudesert and Henley Parish Council for the past
three years, will be officially opened at 9am by the
chairman of the council, Cllr Roger Hubbocks, and
announced by the town crier.

test, she wanted to be extra

Mike said: “We want to
help people enjoy driving
safely and economically
while making best possible
progress on their journeys.
“Since planning the January
course we have had
even more applicants so for
them we will run another
course in April. We get
people from 17-years-old to
people in their 80s. All can
pass. Most do.”
