Baptism
Baptisms are celebrated every Sunday of the month at 12:30PM.
Parents are expected to participate in a Baptismal Preparation
Program. Please call the rectory to arrange for
the Baptismal Preparation Program and a date for Baptism.
Weekly Anointing and Prayer
After the 9:OOAM Mass each Sunday, we will celebrate
the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, for anyone
who has the need to receive this sacrament. This is meant
to include such concerns as upcoming diagnostic tests,
limitations of aging, anxiety, depression, undue stress,
addiction, etc. for all ages.
Please gather in the pews at the front of church
and the priest will be with you approximately
10 minutes after Mass is over.

WORLD PEDIATRIC PROJECT . . .
is a non-profit organization whose mission is to heal critically ill
children in Central America and the Caribbean.
We are seeking a host family for Marcelly, an 18-year-old boy
from Grenada whose treatment will include two full hip
replacements at Shriners Hospital. Without a host family,
Marcelly will be unable to obtain the care he desperately needs.

ROSARY FOR THE USA
In the May 18th issue of the St. Louis Review, there was an
article about a Catholic from Phoenix, Arizona who was deeply
concerned about the United States. While praying the rosary, he
realized that the 50 Hail Mary prayers could be said for our 50
States. He designated the first three decades as prayers intended
for the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial Branches of our
government. The fourth is dedicated to state and local
government as well as police and firefighters. The fifth decade is
devoted to the U.S. military personnel.
Please join your fellow parishioners every Sunday at 4:45
(except holidays) in front of Mary’s statue to say the Rosary
for our country and our populace. The Gathering Area is
available if the weather is not favorable.
ST. PATRICK CENTER FOR THE HOMELESS
Please keep this important ministry in mind on your next
shopping trip. Breakfast bars, granola type bars, chips, cookies,
water, and soda are some of the suggested donations. The Health
Department requires that all food items come prepackaged.
Donations are accepted everyday at 450 Burns Avenue,
Kirkwood. A green tub will be located on our front porch the first
week of the month and will be placed on the side of our house the

ST. PATRICK CENTER BACKPACK COLLECTION
Thank you to all who donated backpacks for our
city's children in need. We were able to collect
48 backpacks filled with school supplies that will
be distributed by St. Patrick's Center. Your
donations are greatly appreciated and many
students will start their school year off with the
things they need thanks to your generosity! Thank you for
supporting this important ministry.
KIRK CARE NEEDS FOOD DELIVERERS
If you have a couple of hours a week during the day to gather
food from the pantry and deliver to a couple of families, Kirk
Care could use your help. All food deliveries are within the
Kirkwood R-7 school district. Food deliveries have doubled over
the last year to over 70 per month. Please consider helping us

needs you may have due to illness or other emergencies. We are
ready to assist with transportation, yard work, light housekeeping,

and we will try to make the necessary arrangements to assist you.

Are you interested in learning more about the Catholic Church?
Then you might be interested in joining the RCIA process.
What do the initials RCIA stand for?
The initials stand for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults.
What is the RCIA process?
It is a process or journey for individuals who desire to establish or
deepen their relationship with Our Lord, Jesus Christ and want to
learn more about the teachings of the Catholic Church.
The first step in this process is called the Inquiry or
Evangelization Period. It is a time for individuals who are
interested in learning more about the Catholic faith to begin to
explore it and surface questions. It is also a time when the Sacred
Scriptures will be introduced and discussed. This initial period is
very informal but provides information and formational
opportunities for those individuals who are looking to acquaint
themselves with the Catholic faith.

110 at Kirkwood United Methodist Church. It is the same as it
was last year: we meet 1:00-2:00pm every Tuesday. Wear
comfortable clothes and shoes. Bring own weights. No cost.
SILVER STREAKS EXERCISE PROGRAM AT ST. PETER…
Come join us on Wednesday afternoons from 2:00 to 3:00 PM in
Ursuline Hall in the Msgr. Deutschmann Room.
This is a good hour-long workout that isn’t too strenuous. It will
get you moving and keep those joints mobile. Silver Streaks is a
chair-based class to benefit people with arthritis, stiffness or who
just want to keep moving. Maybe you are looking for something
to get you started, to go with your walking program or to add
some variety. The program is designed to improve overall
flexibility, balance and strength. Try it, you will like it. Cost is
only $5.00 per session, payable on the day you attend. The
instructor, Holly Ohmes, is certified by the Arthritis Foundation.

The St. Louis Friends of Birthright are holding their eleventh
annual Run/Walk on Saturday, September 1, at Creve Coeur Park
–Tremayne Shelter. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by a
6K Race around the Lake and 1 Mile Fun Walk at 8:30 a.m., and
a ¼ Mile Youth Run at 9:15 a.m. You can register as an

STS. TERESA AND BRIDGET FOOD PANTRY . . .
For those of you who are not aware of why and how this food
pantry collection got started please read below:
After visiting with Fr. Gary Meier, then the pastor of Sts. Teresa
& Bridget (located on Grand & N. Market, St. Louis City), he
explained how the parish and community are in great need. They
have a food pantry that serves their area, open one day a week for
3 hours. Even though another county parish supplies canned
goods once a month, the high demand keeps their shelves bare.
They have had to reduce what they're able to give to those who
come for help to a bag that holds just enough food for 2 meals.
THIS IS WHERE WE COME IN. By collecting canned goods
MONTHLY we can help make other peoples' lives better and
respond to Jesus' call to feed Him when He is hungry.
Donations are delivered on the 3rd Monday of every month.
Please bring canned food in plastic bags about 4 days prior to
the monthly delivery date (3rd Monday each month) to our
home, placing it on the front porch.

Candy and John Behl, 319 East Adams, Kirkwood (block and a
half east of the YMCA). Please donate cans that are no larger
than 30 ounces, anything larger is difficult to carry for all of us.

ROOM AT THE INN
On Friday, July 20, St. Peter Parish hosted a group of ten
homeless guests for dinner, overnight, and breakfast through the
Room at the Inn program. Thanks to the following St. Peter
parishioners who generously gave of their time to help set up the
accommodations, drive, cook , provide fellowship, and do
laundry: Russell and Mary Beth Thompson, Cooper and Shane
Thompson, Roger and Robin Luetkemeyer, Maureen and John
Luetkemeyer, Owen, Brady, Riley, and Devin Luetkemeyer, Matt
and Amber Lawson-Boothby, Gabriel and Keegan Lawson-
Boothby, Ron Luetkemeyer, Hanna Luetkemeyer, Marsha Bauer,
and Judy Jackson.
The Room at the Inn program is a great opportunity to practice
stewardship by sharing our time and blessings with those who are
not as fortunate. Volunteers are always needed. We normally
host our guests at the Parish Center on the third Friday of each
month. If you would like additional information about the

The next parish blood drive is coming up in just THREE
WEEKS! Just like the drive last August, this one is going to be
a “Bring A Buddy” drive: for those that bring a buddy to the
blood drive, both you and your buddy will be entered into a
drawing for some pretty fabulous gift certificates.
Last year, we had certificates from Citizen Kane’s, Dewey’s
Pizza, and Texas Roadhouse. I haven’t gotten certificates for
this year, but I’ll be trying for those same three. If you have
another favorite you’d like to see in the list, give me a call, and
I’ll contact them.
