EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
"The Sacrament of the Body of the Lord puts the
demons to flight, defends us against the incentives
to vice and to concupiscence, cleanses the soul from
sin, quiets the anger of God, enlightens the
understanding to know God, inflames the will and
the affections with the love of God, fills the
memory with spiritual sweetness, confirms the
entire man in good, frees us from eternal death, multiplies the
merits of a good life, leads us to our everlasting home, and reanimates
the body to eternal life"
ROSARY FOR THE USA
In the May 18th issue of the St. Louis Review, there was an
article about a Catholic from Phoenix, Arizona who was deeply
concerned about the United States. While praying the rosary, he
realized that the 50 Hail Mary prayers could be said for our 50
States. He designated the first three decades as prayers intended
for the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial Branches of our
government. The fourth is dedicated to state and local
government as well as police and firefighters. The fifth decade is
devoted to the U.S. military personnel.
Please join your fellow parishioners every Sunday at 4:45
(except holidays) in front of Mary’s statue to say the Rosary
for our country and our populace. The Gathering Area is
available if the weather is not favorable.
ST. PATRICK CENTER FOR THE HOMELESS
Please keep this important ministry in mind on your next
shopping trip. Breakfast bars, granola type bars, chips, cookies,
water, and soda are some of the suggested donations. The Health
Department requires that all food items come prepackaged.
Donations are accepted everyday at 450 Burns Avenue,
Kirkwood. A green tub will be located on our front porch the first
week of the month and will be placed on the side of our house the
rest of the month. Call Jennifer Moritz 909-6756 with any
questions. Thank you for supporting this ministry!
ST. PATRICK CENTER BACKPACK COLLECTION
Thank you to all who donated backpacks for our
city's children in need. We were able to collect
48 backpacks filled with school supplies that will
be distributed by St. Patrick's Center. Your
donations are greatly appreciated and many
students will start their school year off with the
things they need thanks to your generosity! Thank you for
supporting this important ministry.
KIRK CARE NEEDS FOOD DELIVERERS
If you have a couple of hours a week during the day to gather
food from the pantry and deliver to a couple of families, Kirk
Care could use your help. All food deliveries are within the
Kirkwood R-7 school district. Food deliveries have doubled over
the last year to over 70 per month. Please consider helping us
help families in need of food by calling Martha Aschbacher at
314-822-9626. Thank you.

Blessed Are The . . .
The Applause of Heaven by Max Lucado 1999
Section Z
A chapter for each Beatitude, Lucado is the master storyteller
using true stories from the everyday to illustrate a Biblical truth.
His language allows the reader to see and feel a situation with
him.
The Beatitudes for Children by Rosemarie Gortler 2009
Section F
Each Beatitude is coupled with a kid-sized explanation. A family
interaction page follows so that kids and their parents can apply
the Lord's Beatitudes to their lives.
The Beatitudes in Modern Life edited by Margaret Garvey 1989
Section Z
Eight contributors, each addressing a Beatitude, take the
Beatitudes as the root of the gospel message and present options
for change in our lives. They speak of times, places, individuals
and groups – each examples of the presence and relevance of the
Beatitudes now.
Blessed Are The Peacemakers: Ten Steps To Peace by Mary E.
Latela 2003
Section Z
Latela rejects the notion of powerlessness. Peacemaking begins
with the individual and then flows outward. When we are at
peace with ourselves and with God, we can rest comfortably with
the past and move forward in peace.
The Ladder of the Beatitudes by Jim Forest 1999
Section Z
“Drawing on stories from the lives of the saints, scripture and
everyday life, Forest opens up the mysteries of the Beatitudes.
These ancient blessings, with which Christ began his Sermon on
the Mount, are like rungs on a ladder, each leading to the next and
up to the Kingdom of God.”

RCIA
Are you interested in learning more about the Catholic Church?
Then you might be interested in joining the RCIA process.
What do the initials RCIA stand for?
The initials stand for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults.
What is the RCIA process?
It is a process or journey for individuals who desire to establish or
deepen their relationship with Our Lord, Jesus Christ and want to
learn more about the teachings of the Catholic Church.
The first step in this process is called the Inquiry or
Evangelization Period. It is a time for individuals who are
interested in learning more about the Catholic faith to begin to
explore it and surface questions. It is also a time when the Sacred
Scriptures will be introduced and discussed. This initial period is
very informal but provides information and formational
opportunities for those individuals who are looking to acquaint
themselves with the Catholic faith.
If you or someone you know is interested in learning more
about the Catholic faith or you would like more information
about the RCIA process, please call
STS. TERESA AND BRIDGET FOOD PANTRY . . .
For those of you who are not aware of why and how this food
pantry collection got started please read below:
After visiting with Fr. Gary Meier, then the pastor of Sts. Teresa
& Bridget (located on Grand & N. Market, St. Louis City), he
explained how the parish and community are in great need. They
have a food pantry that serves their area, open one day a week for
3 hours. Even though another county parish supplies canned
goods once a month, the high demand keeps their shelves bare.
They have had to reduce what they're able to give to those who
come for help to a bag that holds just enough food for 2 meals.
THIS IS WHERE WE COME IN. By collecting canned goods
MONTHLY we can help make other peoples' lives better and
respond to Jesus' call to feed Him when He is hungry.
Donations are delivered on the 3rd Monday of every month.
Please bring canned food in plastic bags about 4 days prior to
the monthly delivery date (3rd Monday each month) to our
home, placing it on the front porch.
DROP OFF LOCATION ~
Candy and John Behl, 319 East Adams, Kirkwood (block and a
half east of the YMCA). Please donate cans that are no larger
than 30 ounces, anything larger is difficult to carry for all of us.
TREASURE REPORT AT-A-GLANCE
“There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but
what good are these for so many?” (John 6:9)
The miracle of the Loaves and Fishes is the only one of Our
Lord’s miracles which is recorded six times in the Gospel. It
carries two important messages. First, no matter how little we
have, we always have enough to share. Second, Christ can take
our humble gifts and do great things with them if we are just
willing to let Him.
SAINT PETER PARISH
2ND ANNUAL BRING A BUDDY DRIVE
SUNDAY, AUGUST 26 – 8:00AM TO 1:00PM
IN THE PARISH CENTER
The next parish blood drive is coming up in just THREE
WEEKS! Just like the drive last August, this one is going to be
a “Bring A Buddy” drive: for those that bring a buddy to the
blood drive, both you and your buddy will be entered into a
drawing for some pretty fabulous gift certificates.
Last year, we had certificates from Citizen Kane’s, Dewey’s
Pizza, and Texas Roadhouse. I haven’t gotten certificates for
this year, but I’ll be trying for those same three. If you have
another favorite you’d like to see in the list, give me a call, and
I’ll contact them.
Please get an appointment:
Sign up after masses the weekend of August 11-12 (that’s
NEXT weekend) after all masses. To sign up on line; go to
www.bloodcenterimpact.org and use sponsor code 9246 or
contact me directly via phone (314-304-1226) or email
(clucier@sbcglobal.net)
If you have any questions about eligibility requirements, or
would like to donate via “apheresis,” please call me.
Blood donations help your neighbor to spend more time with
his/her family and friends. Help out at this drive!
PRAYER OF THE MONTH
AUGUST, 2012
The God of All Patience
May the God of all patience and consolation grant to all the
members of our family that they may live in perfect harmony with
one another. With one heart, may we give glory to God our father
and to Jesus Christ our brother. In the unity and love of the Holy
Spirit. Amen.
ST. PETER PRAYS PARISH PRAYER BOOKLET
The Year of Prayer is coming to an end and we would like to
celebrate this by collecting prayers from our parish families. We
will create a St. Peter Parish Prayer Booklet that will be available
to all parishioners at the end of September. We ask you to submit
your family's favorite prayer or a personal family prayer for
consideration.
Please submit your prayer by either sending an email to
info@stpeterkirkwood.org, visiting the website and using the
online form, or filling out the form in the church pews.
