General Information Course Description This intensive course is designed to help candidates apply the “finishing touch” to their preparations for the 2004 American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) certification and recertification examinations. The course also provides a comprehensive overview of all areas in internal medicine for practicing physicians. All course faculty are affiliated with Mayo Clinic and Mayo Medical School and have had extensive experience in training candidates for various certification examinations. Only in Mayo Clinic’s Internal Medicine Review – Certification and Recertification course will you hear from the authors of the Mayo Internal Medicine Board Review 2004-2005 book. This course is an extension of Mayo’s highly successful and popular tradition of annual board reviews for Mayo residents and fellows. Who Should Attend • Internists preparing to take the 2004 ABIM Certification examination • Internists preparing to take the 2004 ABIM Recertification examination • Physicians interested in a comprehensive review of Internal Medicine Faculty Disclosure As a provider accredited by ACCME, Mayo Foundation must ensure balance, independence, objectivity and scientific rigor in its educational activities. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity. The American Medical Association has determined that non-US licensed physicians who participate in this CME activity are eligible for AMA PRA category 1 credit. Objectives At the conclusion of the course, participants should be able to: • Identify common manifestations of uncommon internal medicine problems • Identify uncommon manifestations of common internal medicine problems • Describe the appropriate evaluation and management of internal medicine diseases likely to appear on the ABIM examination • Describe techniques and methods which will improve test-taking skills. Date and Location The Internal Medicine Review course will be held July 11-17, 2004. Course headquarters will be located in Phillip's Hall on the first floor of the Siebens Medical Education Building, Mayo Clinic, 100 Second Avenue Southwest, Rochester, Minnesota. Meeting facilities are easily accessible by skyway and pedestrian subway, which connect Mayo Clinic to shops, restaurants, and hotels. Rochester, Minnesota home of the world famous Mayo Clinic provides the perfect setting for this intensive seven day course. Question and Answer Session The Mayo Internal Medicine Board Review course uses a state-of-the-art audience response system to provide the attendees with instantaneous results on “board simulated” questions. Upon registration at the course each attendee will receive a “Question and Answer” book that correlates with each lecture given. At the end of each lecture, a fifteen minute segment will be dedicated to testing your skills by responding to questions. You will press a button on an individual key pad and within seconds, a second screen will show the results of the groups response. The correct answer will then be explained by the instructor.
