First Year Students 4 FIRST YEAR MOVE-IN INFORMATION When Do I Move In? • Freshmen who attended Summer Orientation can move into Residence Halls on Friday August 24th from 9am-4pm • Will I still be able to move in if I do not arrive by 4pm Friday? Yes you will still be able to move in anytime over the weekend we highly recommend that students arrive by Friday at 4pm so that you can attend the Welcome Weekend events • Freshman who are attending Orientation on Thursday can arrive to campus on Wednesday, August 22 between 10am and 4pm. Where Do I Check In? • Residents living in Berg Hall will check in at Ostapenko Hall • Residents living in Rowley will check in at the Rowley Lobby • Move-in day will be hectic and very busy. Just remember to be patient and calm! In order to help with the process, carts will be available to checkout at both check-in locations. Resident Assistants will also be around to answer your questions! Will there be any assistance available to help with moving? • Yes there will be a student Move in Crew to help students moving in • There will also be orange bins available for check out at the Rowley and Ostapenko front desks—you will just need to provide an ID to check out the bins. Roommates! Roommates! Roommates! Have a random roommate? Living with someone you met at SOS? If you are just meeting or thinking you know one another so well because of SOS….IT’S IMPORTANT TO HAVE THIS TALK…trust the housing experts! • Discuss expectations with one another. Talk about everything from sleeping habits to sharing items to having guests. • Create a roommate agreement! You can even give a copy to your RA for future reference.
First Year Students 5 FIRST YEAR WELCOME ACTIVITIES Friday, August 24th • 4pm-New Student Convocation-Verizon Arena Lee Center • Followed by a Welcome Reception in the Gerard Dining Hall • 7pm-Meeting with OCRS-Verizon Arena Lee Center Saturday, August 25th • 11am-Keynote speaker-Verizon Arena Lee Center • 12pm-Lunch with Orientation Leaders and Peer Mentors-Gerard Dining Hall • 8:00pm-Commuter, Northside, & Southside socials Sunday August 26th • 1:30-3:30pm-Shuttle to Target-Pick up is in front of the lodge • 4:00pm- Student Employment Workshop-Gailhac 2002 • 8:00pm- Welcome Back Party-Ireton Lawn MANDATORY HALL MEETINGS- Mandatory hall meetings will be held during the first week of school on every floor across campus. Please look for signs on your floor!
