reetings from <strong>Marymount</strong> <strong>University</strong> and the Office of Campus and Residential<br />

Services! As the Resident Directors (RDs) it is our pleasure to welcome you! We<br />

hope you are getting excited for the beginning of the <strong>Fall</strong> semester and anxious to<br />

get here in August. Before you arrive, our Resident Assistants (RAs) and Graduate<br />

Assistant Resident Directors (GARDs) will be preparing the halls for your arrival and will be<br />

available to help with your transition into this new academic year. Our offices are located on<br />

the 1st floor of Ostapenko Hall and the 1st floor of Rowley Hall, so please come by, introduce<br />

yourself, and ask any questions you may have. Take some time to read over the enclosed information,<br />

use the helpful hints as you prepare for your adventure here at <strong>Marymount</strong>, and<br />

glance at the pictures of your RAs. With your help, we will have a great year, so get excited!<br />

FIRST YEAR MOVE-IN INFORMATION<br />

When Do I Move In?<br />

• Freshmen who attended Summer Orientation can move into Residence Halls on<br />

Friday August 24th from 9am-4pm<br />

• Will I still be able to move in if I do not arrive by 4pm Friday? Yes you will<br />

still be able to move in anytime over the weekend we highly recommend that students<br />

arrive by Friday at 4pm so that you can attend the Welcome Weekend events<br />

• Freshman who are attending Orientation on Thursday can arrive to campus on<br />

Wednesday, August 22 between 10am and 4pm.<br />

Where Do I Check In?<br />

• Residents living in Berg Hall will check in at Ostapenko Hall<br />

• Residents living in Rowley will check in at the Rowley Lobby<br />

• Move-in day will be hectic and very busy. Just remember to be patient and<br />

calm! In order to help with the process, carts will be available to checkout at both<br />

check-in locations. Resident Assistants will also be around to answer your questions!<br />

Will there be any assistance available to help with moving?<br />

• Yes there will be a student Move in Crew to help students moving in<br />

• There will also be orange bins available for check out at the Rowley and Ostapenko<br />

front desks—you will just need to provide an ID to check out the bins.<br />

Roommates! Roommates! Roommates!<br />

Have a random roommate? Living with someone you met at SOS?<br />

If you are just meeting or thinking you know one another so well because of<br />

SOS….IT’S IMPORTANT TO HAVE THIS TALK…trust the housing experts!<br />

• Discuss expectations with one another. Talk about everything from sleeping<br />

habits to sharing items to having guests.<br />

• Create a roommate agreement! You can even give a copy to your RA for future<br />

reference.

Move In<br />

When do I move in?<br />

• Returning students move in Saturday August 25 and Sunday August 26<br />

between 10am and 5pm.<br />

Where do I check-in?<br />

• Returning students living in Butler, St. Joe, and Rowley will be checking in<br />

at the Rowley lobby.<br />

• Returning students living in Gerard and Ostapenko will be checking in at<br />

Ostapenko.<br />

Will carts be available?<br />

• Yes! Carts will be available at both check-in locations to ease the move-in<br />

process!<br />

What if I am a Transfer student?<br />

• For those that did not attend summer orientation, check-in is Tuesday,<br />

August 21 from 9am-Noon.<br />

• For those that did attend summer orientation, check-in is Friday, August 24<br />

from 9am to 4pm.<br />

• Check-in is at the Ostapenko desk for Berg, Gerard and Ostapenko residents.<br />

• Check-in is at the Rowley desk for Rowley, St. Joe’s and Butler residents.<br />

What do I do if I was approved to move in early?<br />

• Check with your advisor, coach, etc. to ensure that you are on their early arrival<br />

list. Please refer to the email you received from <strong>OCRS</strong> confirming your<br />

arrival date and time.<br />

• Please remember that if you were a summer resident that YOU STILL<br />

NEED TO CHECK-IN on move-in day. Students need to pick up their<br />

RCRs and any other important paperwork.<br />

Information<br />

2 Week Room Freeze: There is a 2 week room freeze from move in until<br />

September 10th.<br />

• Priority requests must be submitted between September 10 and October 1 st 2012.<br />

• First priority for room assignment changes will be given to students in temporary<br />

housing. Limited assignment changes will be granted after October 8, 2012.<br />

• Room change forms will be available at your Residence Director’s office.<br />

Meal Plan<br />

• Meal plans can be changed via the <strong>OCRS</strong> office until September 7th<br />

On Campus Employment<br />

• <strong>OCRS</strong> office has Office Assistant and Desk Assistant Openings<br />

• All student employment jobs are posted on www.marymountjobs.com<br />
