THE STORY: "When Willie Comes Marching Home"
Bill Kluggs Dailey) is popular in Punxatawney. He
(Dan
leads the band, has a girl named Marge Fettles (Colleen
Townsend); a father (William Demarest), who is a veteran
of World War I, and a mother (Evelyn Varden). Comes
December 7 and Pearl Harbor. Bill, first to enlist, makes the
headlines and is given a big farewell. A few weeks later
gunnery instructor. He advances slowly to sergeant. Everybody
is bored, including Bill. His efforts to get a transfer _
fail regularly. One afternoon he fills in a vacancy as gunner \^^,
on a bomber. About 15 hours later the crew bales out in a
log and Bill finds himself in France, where the underground
gives him pictures of a rocket bomb location and ships him
to England. At the end of the fourth day he is back home.
