High Speed in New Lens
The new Super Snaplite projection lens
recently introduced by Kollmorgen Optical
Corp. makes available for the first time
the exceptional speed of f:1.9 in lenses of
focal lengths from five through seven
inches. The new lens brings to this sizerange
a sharpness formerly achieved only
with six-element anastigmat construction
in focal lengths from two to five inches.

New f:1.9 Super Snaplite
With anastigmat lens construction producing
sharp images clear to film corners,
and also achieving more uniform screen
illuminations, the f:1.9 speed now allows
a corresponding increase in brightness to
this distortion- free image.
In construction of the new Super Snaplite,
use is made of a one-piece highstrength
aluminum alloy mount with no
threaded joints which might admit oil or
moisture to the lens. This mount carries
a gold anodized finish which cannot chip,
peel or flake off, the manufacturers state.
PYont and rear optical elements are
sealed into the mount with special gaskets
so that it need not be taken apart for
cleaning under nonnal conditions. The
mount is so proportioned that it is clamped
directly into the lens holder without recourse
to spacers or adapters. A supplementary
shade tube on the shorter focal
lengths can be removed to facilitate lens
cleaning.
The new Super Snaplites can be used
only in projectors having four-inch diameter
lens holders or those which can be
adapted to accommodate holders of this
size. It is available in focal lengths from
five to seven inches, inclusive, in quarterinch
steps. In all these focal lengths it
has a true speed of f:1.9. It is available
in focal lengths greater than seven inches
at somewhat slower speeds.
