Networking and Ice Cream Social<br />

<strong>The</strong> summer kicked off with the first event, a networking game.


<strong>The</strong> networking activity was followed by the ice cream social!


<strong>The</strong> <strong>2011</strong> Intern Olympics<br />

A <strong>Steelcase</strong> team runs to their next location.<br />

<strong>The</strong> interns were given 20 locations around Grand Rapids; the<br />

team who found the most, correctly, won!


<strong>The</strong> event pitted eight companies interns against one another; <strong>Steelcase</strong>, Amway, Wolverine Worldwide, Perrigo, Bissel,<br />

Meijer, Spectrum Health, and Gordon Foods.

Visit and tour of the <strong>Steelcase</strong> Hangar and two private jets.<br />

CDC Scavenger Hunt<br />

<strong>Interns</strong> explored and learned the different parts that make up the CDC; here, they view one of the Acoustic chambers.


<strong>The</strong>y had to navigate their way through the large building while learning important facts about each area.<br />

<strong>The</strong> six stops included: Details, the Model Shop, the Test Lab, Turnstone, Protection Services, and Workspace Futures.


After the hunt, the interns were tested on their knowledge of what they had learned; and shown, the winning team.


Wood Plant<br />

After the discussion with Mark Baker, the interns toured the Wood Plant, the world’s first LEED certified manufacturing facility.

<strong>The</strong> interns were able to tour this completely restored Frank Lloyd Wright home, owned by <strong>Steelcase</strong>.


Adopt-A-Stream<br />

<strong>Steelcase</strong> and WMEAC team together to gather information about the health and safety of Plaster Creek in Dutton.
