Highlights of Fall Sports • BOYS’ SOCCER The Boys’ Soccer Team finished 5th in MSL Conference and 2nd in Regionals. Kenny Mleko shot a four under par 32 and Grant finished his outstanding high school career with 3 medals, and final four under par. This was the lowest 9-hole score in the history of our school. Good job guys! • GIRLS’ SWIMMING AND DIVING The Hersey Swim and Dive Team are the MSL EAST DIVISION CHAMPIONS for the 6th season in a row and MSL Swim Conference Medalists! These girls were instrumental in setting up the Special Olympics swim meet vs. Buffalo Grove. They designed and sold t-shirts, which will help fund JHHS Special Olympians. The Fall Special Olympics season started off with our 2 volleyball teams in action. The Huskies hosted the District Volleyball Tournament, in which the Brown team took the silver medal and the White team took the gold medal. This qualified the White team for the State Tournament. It was held in Rockford at Harlem High School the weekend before Halloween. The Huskies took the bronze medal in Division 1 Modified with a victory over Rockford. Floor Hockey team took the Gold Medal at State and are Division 1 Gold Medal State Champs. Team members are: Danny Sinclair, Catie Nowak, Sam Kent, Ishita Shah, Christina Cassata, Anton Yakimovich. Basketball has also started. The Huskies will have one boys team and one girls team in action. The Area Holiday Tournament will be held here at Hersey on Sunday, December 2nd. Over 30 teams will be here on that day for the competition. In January, the boys team will compete at the District Tournament to try and qualify for State. Snowshoeing practices have also started. The Huskies have a new group of athletes ready to compete. The District Tournament will be held in January and the Huskies have visions of competing at State, at Chestnut Mountain Ski Resort, in February. All we need is a few gold medals in January! 34
