Congratulations to Gene Pavlenko, <strong>Hersey</strong>'s Student of the Month for September! Nominated<br />
by Mr. VanBladel, Gene is being acknowledged for his outstanding contributions to the automotive<br />
practicum. Mr. VanBladel commented, “Gene is one of the hardest working students I have had<br />
here at <strong>Hersey</strong>. He continually looks to help out other students, and does a great deal of work on<br />
many staff cars. In addition, Gene travels to Wheeling <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> every day to take another<br />
class that is not offered here at <strong>Hersey</strong>. He is a great example of pursuing your passion.” Gene<br />
is excited to continue his pursuit of a job in the automotive industry, as he has been accepted to<br />
the very difficult automotive technology program at Southern Illinois University. He advises<br />
<strong>Hersey</strong> students to “stay true to your beliefs and don’t be afraid to follow your dreams.”<br />
