Tennis Charities
The Tennis Foundation is the largest tennis charity in
the UK. Its “One Game All” philosophy is to encourage
more people of all ages and abilties to play and enjoy
tennis.
In particular the Foundation wants to improve tennis
delivery in all Local Authority facilities; that includes
Parks, Schools and municipal facilities. The
Foundation’s long term strategy will introduce millions
of new players to the game, and allow them to play and
enjoy tennis on a regular basis.
The Foundation works alongside the The Lawn Tennis
Association and is based at the National Tennis Centre.
As part of the Foundation’s
commitment to make tennis
accessible to everyone, the Dan
Maskell Tennis Trust was set
up over 10 years ago specifically
to raise funds for people with
disabilities in 3 main areas –
wheelchair, deaf and learning
disabilities. The Trust’s role is
threefold:-
a) To be a charitable provider of tennis wheelchairs
where individuals, clubs and centres running disability
programmes may apply for assistance with funding
b) To be a provider of equipment/coaching bags
whereby coaches, clubs, special schools, disability
groups and associations may apply for a kit bag of
tennis equipment and coaching aids
c) To be the grant aiding body to assist disability
groups, associations, club programmes and individuals
for any disability.
The Trust aims to raise a minimum of £50K each year to
spend on grant aid in these three categories.
