Foreword
It gives me great pleasure to introduce the first edition of the
Tennis Industry Association’s Tennis Book and I hope that
all those of you in the world of British Tennis will find the
book interesting and useful.
Despite the electronic age of communication in which we
now live, we believe that there is value in an accessible
reference book which contains all the information about the
products and services provided by companies in the tennis
industry, together with all their contact details. The entries
are divided into sections to make it easier to identify the products or services about which you
require information.
The Tennis Book is published by the Tennis Industry Association as a service to the tennis
industry and tennis public. The TIA has expanded significantly in the last 2 years with 57
member companies now representing virtually all the major companies within the industry. Our
aim is to provide all our member companies with a range of benefits and to work closely with the
governing body to help them expand the number of tennis players in the UK.
It used to be said that for tennis to grow in the UK there must be good role models and players
who can compete at international level. Well, we have had Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski, both
of whom were top 4 in the world and outstanding role models, we now have Andy Murray who
has achieved the remarkable ranking of number 3 in the world at the age of 22. It has become
clear however that having a top player does not alone spark a dynamic expansion in the number
of tennis players. What is needed is comprehensive and sustained development activity at the
grass roots of the game. We believe that the LTA is now addressing this issue and we want to
work with them and support them in any way we can. In that way we hope that we and the LTA
can achieve our joint objective of growing the game in the UK.
This is the first edition of the Tennis Book and it is our intention that it will be updated regularly,
so if you have any ideas with which we can improve the product, please let the Editor know and
we can consider them before the next publication.
I hope you will find this book valuable and wish you success in your involvement in tennis in
2009.
Message from the LTA
Winning and growing the sport in Great Britain are
our key priorities for 2009.
Growing the sport is a long-term project and the tennis
industry has a key role to play. For this reason I am
delighted that the Tennis Industry Association UK has
decided to produce its first directory of products and
services, the Tennis Book 2009.
Whether tennis is your hobby or your profession, this book
will help you to navigate your way around the diverse range
of products and services that are available and find those
that are right for you. You will also benefit from the
cumulative experience and knowledge of some of the most
respected and long-established tennis businesses in the
UK. By joining the TIA UK, these companies have made a
commitment to best practice and good customer service.
I wish you every success with your tennis and hope you find this directory useful.
The Sport of Tennis
Wimbledon in action. Picture AELTC.
o millions of people tennis is simply Wimbledon — that
TFortnight which dominates each year over the last week of
June and the first week of July. To millions it brings hours of
entertainment especially via their TV screens. Some are lucky
enough to have tickets to go and enjoy the unique atmosphere
but there are others who simply can’t understand what all the
fuss is about.
Wimbledon, or The Championships to use the event’s official
title, holds a unique place in the sport. It is the best tournament
in the world of tennis, in a sport which has wide appeal and is
played by thousands professionally and, more importantly, by
millions as a hobby. And amongst those millions, the game is
enjoyed by youngsters and oldsters alike for tennis is one of
the few sports which can be played virtually from ‘birth to the
grave’, by both ‘able and disabled’, or put another way, by
anyone who can hold a racket!
Tennis has history and it is worth noting, albeit briefly, how it
has evolved. The modern game originated in the United
Kingdom in the late 19th century but its roots go back even
further as it is a derivative of the more ancient game of Real
Tennis, or Court Tennis, as enjoyed by Henry VIII.
Originally Lawn Tennis was very much a social game and as
such, spread around the globe. Surprisingly perhaps, after a
few minor changes, the game remains virtually the same as the
one originally conceived and marketed by Major Walter Clopton
Wingfield in the 19th century.
Nowadays the sport itself has become a complex business and
is reflected by the number of professional tournaments which
are held around the world under the aegis of the ATP and WTA
tours, plus those run by the ITF and the various national
8
governing bodies. In addition individual clubs are perceived to
be virtual community centres while promoting the sport and
servicing the needs of players within their own catchment areas.
The rules of the game are administered by the International
Tennis Federation (ITF) who govern all aspects of the sport
including the size of the courts and the equipment used. They
also oversee the international team events like the Davis Cup
and the Fed Cup, as well as tennis at the Olympics.
The rules of the game were finally formalised in 1924 and,
having undergone some minor changes over the subsequent
decades to take in changing views on foot faults, the size of
rackets and the tie-break, remain consistent with its original
heritage. These rules can be downloaded from the ITF website
(www.itftennis.com) as a 44 page PDF file. Alternatively they
can be purchased in booklet form from The ITF, Bank Lane,
Roehampton, London SW15 5XZ.
It should also be noted that the ITF publish a wide selection of
rule books for specific competitions, all designed to provide
guidance for officials, tournament organisers, players, coaches
and team captains.
The impressive building which houses the ITF in Roehampton.
Of course a lot of this can also be obtained from The Lawn
Tennis Association (LTA), the national governing body of tennis
in Great Britain. Their website which is comprehensive, can be
found on www.lta.org.uk.
The tennis court, the playing area.
For the benefit of the uninitiated, the basic ingredients of our
sport are as follows:
The first is a court which requires a playing dimension of 78
feet x 36 feet and these days the surface can vary from the
traditional grass, to clay, hard and artificial (grass or carpet).
When Major Wingfield came up with his game in 1873, it was
intended to be played on grass, in the back gardens of the
Victorian upper classes. His original court was shaped in an
hourglass design but with similar markings as basically used
today. It was modified in 1875 when the first rules of the sport
were published by the MCC. Two years later the All England
Club staged the first men’s singles championships at
Wimbledon.
For the next 100 years, the majority of tournaments were played
on grass including three of the four Grand Slams – Wimbledon,
Australia and the US.
Clay, originally in the form of crushed brick, was the natural
surface’s biggest rival with the French, the fourth of the majors,
its greatest advocate.
The US Open was the first of the big
ones to switch from grass when they
adopted an all-weather synthetic clay
surface in 1975 but then, three years
later, switched to a hardcourt when the
event was moved from Forest Hills to
Flushing Meadows.
The home of the US
Open, Flushing
Meadows.
Pic. Barbara Wancke
Australia also decided to opt for a
hardcourt in 1988 when they moved
their championships from Kooyong to
Melbourne, having first flirted with the
idea of adopting an artificial grass
surface which would have meant all the four Grand Slams
would have been on very different surfaces. At the time many
felt it was an opportunity missed!
Then there is the ball and racket. In general the ball employed
must have a uniform surface, be stitch-less and not weigh less
than two ounces and not more than two and one sixteenth
ounce, while bouncing no more than 53 inches (and not less
than 58 inches) when dropped, onto a concrete base, from a
height of 100 inches. All this is monitored by the ITF who
accredit the balls supplied by manufacturers thereby ensuring
they conform to the rules. It would certainly be difficult for
individuals to check that!
Initially balls were always white but for the ease of TV viewers,
a change to yellow started in the mid-1970s with Wimbledon
itself adopting the change of colour in 1986.
The size of rackets is now also regulated following the
introduction of the loosely strung ‘spaghetti racket’, Jimmy
Connor’s ‘steel’ racket, Prince’s ‘Jumbo’ model, and the
progressive change from wood to graphite and composite
materials. The ITF eventually produced a universally agreed
racket specification limiting the length to 29 inches and a frame
width of 12.5 inches. These rules were first mooted in 1976 but
it wasn’t until 1996 that they really became effective following
very lengthy consultations with the manufacturers, agents and
lawyers.
Though the rules were formalised in the 20s, the scoring has
remained much the same for the past century except for the
introduction of tie-breaks in 1971 and, in 2006, the sudden
death deuce point which is now prevalent in doubles play.
The biggest shake-up of the sport came in 1968 when it went
Open and finally consigned ‘shamateurism’ to the history
books. The inception of professionalism that year has proved to
be the major watershed of the sport for up to that time, the
game had continued to be a ‘hobby’. The introduction of prize
9

The Sport of Tennis
money and the sport’s subsequent commercialisation has
helped to develop the game to what it is today, much to the
chagrin of the traditionalists.
Tennis these days is, indeed, big business. Globally, it has
certainly reached the multi-billion dollar mark. What one can’t
state at present is how many people are involved in the sport,
but it must be over a million in a wide variety of companies,
both large and small,
and they all in turn are
providing products
and services, directly
and indirectly, to the
sport.
Before Open tennis
there were no trade
associations in the
sport but now there is
a plethora of them
starting with the two
player associations,
the Association of
Tennis Professionals
(ATP) and the
Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). Similarly, associations for
umpires, journalists, contractors, and the tennis trade itself, the
TIA in the States followed by the TIA UK ten years ago, have
sprung up to promote and protect the interests of their
members.
However, prize money is the usual measure by which outsiders
gauge the sport and given the fact that Roger Federer has
pocketed some $38 million over nine years, plus endorsements
to a similar value, one can understand why people believe that
tennis is affluent. Similarly, the Wimbledon surplus which
annually bolsters the coffers of our national governing body, the
LTA, for the benefit of British tennis, currently averaging some
£25 million (but has topped the £30 million), is another.
As I said at the start of my preamble, Wimbledon basically
personifies tennis. It has been at the forefront of the game for
over a century and in some ways ironically, despite being
steeped in tradition, it is a very commercial operation. Its
appeal within its Club environment is why it has successfully
maintained its reputation of being the best in the world. And I
can’t see it ever losing that status.
We too have been perfecting our service game.
125 years of providing tennis equipment worldwide.
Since 1884 we have been manufacturing and supplying
equipment to the tennis industry. Not only for Wimbledon,
but also other prestigious events such as the 2008 Olympics
in Beijing, as well as supplying products to all the major
indoor court facilities in the UK.
We believe our dedication to providing quality products for
the worlds of tennis, football, rugby, hockey and cricket has
been well practised over the last 125 years.
So why not see how we can perform? Ball’s in your court.
Frequently Asked Questions
hilst representation of the tennis industry is the TIA’s
Wprime function, its officers are frequently asked
questions appertaining to the sport itself. There is certainly
interest in becoming more involved in the game and it seems
strange that individuals find it hard to obtain the relevant
information. Or are they just looking for the easy option.
The first stop is to check out the LTA’s website (lta.org.uk)
which is a mine of information. It isn’t easy to navigate,
especially for the older generation who find the modern
technological world hard to deal with. But that aside, the
information is there and it is a matter of perseverance and
patience.
How can I join a tennis club?
How to join a tennis club is one of those much asked
questions. The first thing is to find a club close by to you and
the list of LTA affiliated clubs is one of the major items within
the website. Having chosen your club, contact the secretary
and establish the criteria for joining. These days the ‘playing
in’ aspect to confirm your standard of play isn’t as prevalent
as it used to be, though a minority of clubs do attempt to
maintain a higher than usual standard.
The story that Bjorn Borg, whilst practising at a club as
Wimbledon champion, when asked how easy would it be for
him to join, was allegedly immediately told he would have to
undergo a playing in test, underlines how farcical the system
was! Fortunately those days are virtually over.
Everyone aspires to be a Wimbledon Umpire but you have to
work your way to the top. Picture David Musgrove.
How can I become a Tennis Umpire?
More frequently we get asked how difficult is it to become an
official.
There are two types, Referee and Umpire. If you are looking to
become a Referee you must, in the first instance, attend a
one-day introductory seminar. These are set up around the
country between September and May, and are free to attend.
The qualities which you must bring to the table are a sound
Coaches brief a group of children. Picture TIA
knowledge of the rules, a good image and a confident
approach.
At the end of the seminar, you would be invited to join the
Association of British Tennis Officials (ABTO) and become a
trainee referee, which will enable you to work at club or
county-level tournaments with an Accredited Referee. At this
stage you would need to gain 4 day’s experience assisting an
Accredited Referee at a tournament.
You would also have to obtain a Criminal Records Bureau
(CRB) Enhanced Disclosure Certificate through the LTA.
Finally you would be required to pass an LTA Accreditation
Course, again a one day free course which contains a multiple
choice Rules Exam.
On passing the Accreditation Course, and joining ABTO as a
full member (which costs £20) you would be qualified to
referee LTA Sanctioned Tournaments. Remember, only referees
certified by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) can
referee professional tournaments.
Finally, further progress as a referee is dependent upon your
work rate, good assessments and passing various courses.
The procedure for Line Umpires is slightly different. ABTO run
a Line Umpire program annually which starts at the end of
each year so interested parties must first attend a National
Recruitment Day and then pass a Basic Line Umpire Course.
The day provides an introduction to line umpiring with a
small amount of classroom based work providing teaching on
the basic techniques of a line umpire followed by some
practical work on court. This is a pass/fail course based on the
day’s performance and the successful participants will then be
invited to a Basic Line Umpire Course for further training
where again participants pass/fail on the day’s performance.
12

Wimbledon spectators making the most of their tickets. Picture David Musgrove.
Successful participants are then invited to join the ABTO as
trainee members (free at this stage) but will also be required
to gain a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Enhanced
Disclosure Certificate. The participants are then qualified to
Line Umpire at tournaments.
Having gained experience as a Line Umpire, progress to Chair
Umpire requires a further Chair Umpire Accreditation Course
of which 2 to 4 are run each year. This course lasts 2 days,
and covers the introduction and training with a combination
of classroom and on-court work with an exam at the end.
Again, successful candidates are invited to join ABTO as full
members and, as with line umpires, can be selected for
tournaments to Chair at local club finals days and junior
tournaments to gain the requisite experience. Further courses
would follow before selection to more high profile events.
For further information on officiating, you should contact
officiating.feedback@LTA.org.uk or call 020 8487 7047.
How can I get tickets for Wimbledon?
How to obtain Wimbledon Tickets is another recurring
question. The answer is brief and that is via Wimbledon’s
Public Ballot which covers advance sales of the main
showcourts, namely Centre, No1 and now No2 courts.
To enter the Public Ballot your application must be in by the
end of each year for the following year’s Championships.
The date should however, always be checked and the best
place to do that is on Wimbledon’s own website at
13
www.wimbledon.org/tickets.
Tickets are also sold through the LTA to affiliated clubs,
schools, the British Tennis Membership Scheme, and foreign
tennis associations.
Tickets are also available on the day but you are warned, any
tickets not purchased from an authorised source, ie on the
Black Market, will not gain you entry into the grounds.
How can I find a Tennis Coach?
Finally, the problem of finding a Coach. Like finding a club,
the best way is to get in touch with the British Tennis Coaches
Association which trades under the name of tenniscoachUK.
Again, the first stop is to click onto their web site
(www.tenniscoachuk.com) where, under the ‘find a coach
service’ heading on the left hand side menu, you can search
for a fully qualified coach working in your area. Just follow
the simple instructions which come up when you go into the
site.
Hopefully these answers to frequently asked questions will
prove helpful but the best source of information is the LTA
website and obviously Wimbledon for matters concerning
The Championships. In fact every organisation which services
tennis either as a supplier or a service, has its own specific
website so in the first instance our recommendation is to
approach them and if that doesn’t answer your question, then
a phone call should follow.

by arrangement, at all major tennis tournaments
in the UK including home Davis Cup ties. The
origins of The Tennis Shop lie in the highly
successful consumer shows organised by the TIA
alongside Davis Cup ties at the National Indoor
Arena, Birmingham from 1999 to 2002.
It is intended that The Tennis Shop will eventually
become a roadshow, taking the TIA UK message
to indoor clubs and tennis centres around the
country.
Thanks to the initiatives of the Tennis Gallery
Wimbledon and The Silver Tennis Collection Ltd,
this new shopping experience finally came to
fruition in 2008 when it opened its doors at the
TFS-ICAP Liverpool International Tennis
Tournament at Calderstones Park and The
International Women’s Open at Eastbourne. The
Tennis Shop also traded at the All England Club
Wimbledon during the Davis Cup tie between
The Tennis Shop’s first outing in Liverpool 2008. Picture TIA UK
Trading starts at the September 2008 Wimbledon Davis Cup
tie. Picture TIA UK
Great Britain and Austria in September 2008.
This enabled companies to trade on site at
Wimbledon, an opportunity sadly denied them
during The Championships each year.
The Tennis Shop is scheduled to open its doors at
the inaugural AEGON International at Devonshire
Park, Eastbourne in June 2009, and it is hoped
that it will be at Liverpool’s Echo Arena for the
Great Britain versus Poland Davis Cup tie in
September 2009.
The Tennis Shop always generates great interest
amongst fans at events and tournaments, who
are usually starved of opportunities to purchase
fanware such as tennis books, DVDs, posters,
photographs, gifts and souvenirs. This new
shopping experience is made possible by the TIA
UK member companies who supply a variety of
tennis goods not usually found in the high street.
The TIA UK has always believed that the tennis
public wants to see the full range of tennis goods
available on the market and this should be in a
suitable environment, namely the environs of a
tennis tournament. In addition, our Information
Point provides an ideal opportunity for companies
providing specialist tennis services to dispense
information about their areas of expertise.
The Tennis Shop is very fan-friendly and our
ultimate aim is to make it the first stop for all
visitors attending major tennis events in this
country.

Traditionally the sports shop in the High Street has
been the first port of call for most tennis enthusiasts
seeking their tennis kit.
The advent of big retail sports chains has offered
competitive prices for tennis equipment and in recent
years online shopping has become the market place of
growth.
“The Smash!” is a fictional novel by James Harbridge, a
litigation lawyer who is a partner in Trowers & Hamlins’ Oman
office as well as an accomplished author.
The book takes off at the Wimbledon tennis championships
which are in turmoil with the murder of the men’s number 1
player. The many suspects include a bad boy Bollywood film
star, a maverick sports agent, a corrupt umpire, but perhaps
most importantly, some top stars of women’s tennis as well.
Tabloid journalist Terry Proudley, a nondescript dreamer, joins
forces with glamorous policewoman Verita Sassi to track
down the culprit, never guessing that the quest for justice will
take them to the south of France, then India...and beyond.
So who is the murderer? And who will win the coveted
women’s Wimbledon title? Find out in “The Smash”!
Published by Pen Press Publishers Ltd (July 1, 2008 / ISBN-
Trading quality literature related to racket sports. The Tennis
Bookshop was established in September 1988 by Alan
Chalmers as a specialist catalogue dealer in printed matter
related to Lawn Tennis, Real/Court Tennis, Rackets/Racquets,
and Squash Rackets, there being at the time no other
specialist dealers in these fields, though most other sports
were well covered.
Since then, several others have set up similar businesses, but
the Tennis Bookshop makes a strong claim to be the world’s
leading dealer.
Alan Chalmers played squash rackets and lawn tennis for 30
years, and real tennis for the last 20 years. He has also
organised many tennis and squash tournaments from club up
to international level, and written the internet ball-by-ball
reports on several of the recent world real tennis
championship eliminator matches.
Over the past three decades he has also worked on the Centre
Court at Wimbledon overseeing the arrangements for the
writing journalists and the competitors, and in that time
amassed hundreds of journalists as friends and acquaintances.
The Tennis Bookshop philosophy is that only very good
condition books are acceptable to customers, and even now,
stocks no titles published after 1935 that are not in their
original dust-wrappers.
Business is promoted by the issue of over 65 quarterly
Newsletters, each of six pages which are mailed to customers
in around sixty countries as well as via use of the internet and
e-mails that now constitute about 75% of orders.
Tennis Racket Specialists
When two tennis players are otherwise equal, the
winner will be the one playing with the right racket,
suitably strung to take account of his or her individual
characteristics. So to get that winning edge and achieve
your real potential, you will want to take a little time to
consult a qualified expert with up-to-date knowledge.
Looking for the distinctive TRS Certified Stringer
window sticker at your local sports retailer will ensure
you get the best possible advice from a fully accredited
expert. This shows you the individual is endorsed by
ERSA and the TIA UK and is up to speed on all the latest
technologies.
Mark Maslowski,
the ERSA Director,
takes a close look
at a stringers work.
Picture TIA UK
TRS stands for Tennis Racket Specialist, and, rather like
a Corgi plumber, when you find one, you can rest
assured that this person has attended the course and
passed the test to be acknowledged and promoted as a
fully accredited TRS Certified Stringer. In fact, the TRS
scheme provides retailers with suitable skills to enable
them to offer a professional service to consumers
dealing in the purchase and maintenance of tennis
rackets by encompassing current pre-sales expert advice
based on current technologies and relevant post sales
services. The aim is to propagate a universal Tennis
Racket Specialist scheme throughout the UK to bring a
greater degree of knowledge to stringers and help them
keep up-to-date with the latest racket and stringing
technologies.
All for your benefit, the end-user consumer looking for a
sure-bet-spend and winning equipment! TRS Certified
Stringers are becoming the recognised experts in the
field and a real asset to British tennis. Up until now
there has been a myriad of advisors out there, some of
them good and some not so good... It has been a matter
of pot luck as far as the consumer was concerned.
35
As more retailers become accredited to the scheme, you
will be able to look on the TIA UK website for your
nearest accredited racket specialist. In the meantime, the
latest list as at May 2009 is printed herewith for your
information.
The scheme itself is administered under the auspices of
the Tennis Industry Association UK by an independent
working group called the TRS Board representing the
best interests of all relevant parties — including the
manufacturers and the stringing companies. By
combining the expertise of the industry, one credible
system of training and certification for sports shops and
associated teaching professionals is being established
throughout the UK. Stringers attend training workshops
and are then tested by Master Racquet Technicians from
the European Racquet Stringers Association, whose
certification system is used to measure standards for
TRS Graduates around the world. It is the stated goal of
the TRS Board that the scheme is developed and
promoted in close co-operation with the Lawn Tennis
Association, the British Tennis Coaches
Association and the Professional Tennis Registry UK.
TRS Certified Stringers’ Directory
Directory of TRS Stringers
The Tennis Racquet Specialist Scheme is
an education and certification programme
for retailers and associated teaching pros
benefitting the buying public.
TRS Certified Stringers are the recognised
experts in this field and a real asset to British tennis.
Consumers are able to seek out TRS Certified Stringers from
the directory below as well as on the TIA UK website at
www.tiauk.org in the certain knowledge that they will receive
the best available advice and service on their tennis racket
equipment.
Workshops conducted by the ERSA teach the best methods of
modern racket stringing and servicing and participants are
subsequently tested by Master Racquet Technicians using the
ERSA certification system that is the universally accepted
standard around the world.
This results in better advice and service for the consumer and
ensures greater knowledge in tennis equipment and on-going
maintenance costs is available through fully accredited
specialist sports retailers and stringers.
In all, a better deal for the British tennis enthusiast and the
sports retailers.
The directory lists qualified stringers according to the
History
Following on from our Sport of Tennis feature, it
seems only natural to touch on the historical aspect
of the game, which is a fascinating subject and one
which can turn individuals into collectors of
memorabilia, books, programmes etc.
The best place to see for yourself how the sport has
actually evolved through the ages and how it has been
affected by the changing cultures and eras from
Victorian to Open, is the Wimbledon Museum which is
open throughout the year. It is based at the All
England Club and provides a unique insight into the
legendary players and artefacts plus inter-actives,
films and an amazing 200 degree Cinema taking a 3-D
look at the Science of Tennis and John McEnroe’s
‘ghost’ taking you round the old dressing room. The
Museum is the recipient of a Special Commendation in
the European Museum of the Year 2008, and a winner
of the Gold Award as Best Tourism Experience in
London in the Visit to London Awards for 2007 with an
additional Bronze Award in the Accessibility category.
The more serious fans, or collectors, attend auctions
at Sotheby’s and Christie’s and scour the various boot
sales and antique shops for the gems which can be
found amongst the articles on display.
The Silver Tennis
Collection Davis Cup
display at the NIA
which was a highlight
at the Davis Cup tie
against Sweden in
2002.
From time to time, special exhibitions are held at
events like Devonshire Park and Davis Cup ties, one of
the more interesting being the one arranged by The
Silver Tennis Collection for a Davis Cup tie at the NIA
featuring pictures, medals and cups of early players.
In contrast the Tennis Gallery Wimbledon put on an
excellent show of photographs by Michael Cole of
women players through the ages. Entitled ‘Supergirls’
it attracted a lot of attention last year at Devonshire
Park during the Ladies’ International.
Devonshire Park visitors view the Supergirls exhibition
last year at Eastbourne. Picture Tennis Gallery
Tennis Charities
The Tennis Foundation is the largest tennis charity in
the UK. Its “One Game All” philosophy is to encourage
more people of all ages and abilties to play and enjoy
tennis.
In particular the Foundation wants to improve tennis
delivery in all Local Authority facilities; that includes
Parks, Schools and municipal facilities. The
Foundation’s long term strategy will introduce millions
of new players to the game, and allow them to play and
enjoy tennis on a regular basis.
The Foundation works alongside the The Lawn Tennis
Association and is based at the National Tennis Centre.
accessible to everyone, the Dan
Maskell Tennis Trust was set
up over 10 years ago specifically
to raise funds for people with
disabilities in 3 main areas –
wheelchair, deaf and learning
disabilities. The Trust’s role is
threefold:-
a) To be a charitable provider of tennis wheelchairs
where individuals, clubs and centres running disability
programmes may apply for assistance with funding
b) To be a provider of equipment/coaching bags
whereby coaches, clubs, special schools, disability
groups and associations may apply for a kit bag of
tennis equipment and coaching aids
c) To be the grant aiding body to assist disability
groups, associations, club programmes and individuals
for any disability.
The Trust aims to raise a minimum of £50K each year to
spend on grant aid in these three categories.
