Since can be followed by a subject and<br />

verb. In (a): since I was child = a sinceclause.*<br />

(b) Mr. Lo has been a teacher since hegraduntedfmm college.<br />

(c) Sue and I have been friends since we were children.<br />

Notice in the examples: The verb in the<br />

main clause is present perfect. The<br />

verb in the. since-clause is simple past.<br />
