A and an have the same meaning. They are both articles.<br />

j, k, etc. Examples: a bed, a cat, a dog, afriend, a girl<br />

An is used in front of words that begin with a, e, i, and o.*<br />

Examples: an animal, an ear, an island, an ofie<br />

The letters a, e, i, o, and u are called ''vowe18."<br />

All of the other letters in the alphabet are called "consonants."<br />
