12. BUYING YOUR HOME
Please remember that in this Agreement there are specific sections that are only
applicable to Probationary Tenants and certain sections that are only applicable to Secure
Tenants.

Rights to buy (secure
tenants only)
12.1 If you are a secure tenant you may have the right
to buy your property, subject to certain conditions
and limitations. For further information on the
right to buy, speak to your housing officer.
Suspension of the Right
to Buy (secure tenants)
12.2 If you or a person living in or visiting the property
has engaged or threatened to engage in anti
social behaviour, we can seek an Order from
court which will have the effect of suspending
your right to buy for a specified period .

obligation to complete a
Right to Buy sale
12.3 You will not be able to compel us to complete a
right to buy sale where court action is pending
against you.
Right to Buy (tenants
with probationary or
demoted tenancies)
12.4 If you have a probationary or demoted tenancy,
you are not allowed to apply to buy your home
until you become a secure tenant.
The length of your probationary tenancy will be
taken into account, if you become a secure
tenant, when considering your eligibility to buy
your home.
However, any period in during which a tenant
holds a demoted tenancy may not be included
within the qualifying period for the right to buy or
the level of discount to which a secure tenant is
entitled.
