Chia (Year 3) and Nicholas Agosta (Year 3) who have
been a force in the 9A side ,along with Lucas Anderson
(Year 3) in Rugby who continues to lead on the field. For the
second year running we also have boys involved in Winter
Cross Country and they have been training very hard for
the upcoming season.
Pre-Season Athletics training for any boy who wishes to
participate in the activity has begun. To date some eightyfive
boys have attended one or more of the six sessions,
which is a great indication of the boys’ enthusiasm.

Armidale Rugby Tour
The Armidale Rugby Tour began well before the official
kick off of the season. Boys who wanted to trial for
the Tour Squad were put through a rigorous lunchtime
training sessions. It was clear from there that choosing a final
squad was not going to be an easy task. After the squad
was chosen the boys trained very hard in preparation for
what was going to be a tough tour. We knew that over
thirty schools would be competing for The Armidale School
Rugby Cup and that many of the powerhouse schools
would be in attendance.

the conversion. With a new resurgence, St Marys lifted and
sent wave after wave of attacking plays at our boys. There
was never a chance that we were going to lose focus and
concede another try. Finally, the whistle blew and stopped
the barrage against us. We won 12-5 and were crowned
Champions of the Red Division.
Thank you to the boys for their outstanding sportsmanship
and friendship shown through the carnival. A big thank you
must go to Mr Dunne and Mr Jonny Smith (Gap Student)
who assisted the team to achieve their success.

After the pool games the College finished not only with
the best attacking record of seventeen tries, but also with
the best defensive record by not conceding a single point.
We were ecstatic to have made the grand final of the Red
Division. Our Grand Final was against a local team, St
Mary’s Armidale, who had also won all four of their pool
matches. The boys were expecting a hard game of rugby,
and that’s what they got. The defence from both sides was
brutal, which made finding gaps hard to spot. Our side
scored a brilliant try from half way and went into half time
leading 6-0. This was the game the boys were looking for
as far as matching their standard was concerned. Luckily
we scored very quickly after half time and took the lead
12-0. Our opposition was not ready to lie down, they set
Victory War Cry!
