Annual Giving Appeal 2002
Each year the College approaches all members of
the College Community (Old Boys, Parents,
Past Parents, Staff, Friends of the College and
Suppliers) to support the Annual Giving Appeal.
Funds raised from the 2002 Annual Giving Appeal will
be directed to the redevelopment of the College
Canteen (a very popular decision with the boys!) and
the construction of a Chaplaincy – Pastoral Care –
Careers Centre. This work is another stage in the
redevelopment of the Middle School (Years 7 – 10)
Building.
Sir Gustav Nossal (SAC 1947) AC, CBE, the 2000
Australian of the Year has kindly agreed to act as Patron
of the 2002 Annual Giving Appeal. As a long-time
supporter of the College’s Annual Giving Appeal, Sir
Gustav recognises the important role it plays in the
ongoing development of the College. Facilities like the
recently opened Visual Arts Centre would not have
become a reality without the active support of the
College Community through the Annual Giving
Appeal.
Sir Gustav will write to every member of the
College Community in May asking for your support of
the Appeal.
One of the great attributes of the College is our
pastoral care programme. Through the programme our
boys are cared for and nurtured through an ongoing
programme of support and care. Our Tutor programme
and Retreat programme is at the forefront of boys’
education and is the envy of schools right around
Australia.
At the cornerstone of the College is our Catholic
faith and its emphasis of care for the individual. The
establishment of a Chaplaincy – Pastoral Care Centre
will ensure that we will be able to provide all our boys
with the best possible spiritual and pastoral support for
their ongoing development.
The establishment of a careers centre will ensure
that our boys are prepared to meet the challenges of the
world when they leave the College. The Careers Centre
will host information about universities and careers and
will be able to provide a referral service for boys who
seek more detailed information about an occupation or
a field of study.
The current Canteen has served the College well
over the last 22 years however in its current form it does
not provide the necessary facilities to serve the College.
The new Canteen will be designed to make serving the
boys easier and will provide our volunteers parents with
a modern ergonomically designed workplace.
The support of the College Community for this
project will ensure that the non-academic needs of the
boys are catered for in a purpose built facility.
