GUIDE
Welcome to the
brand new What’s Happening
Hartlepool Guide 2012!
This guide combines the Hartlepool Mini-Guide and the What’s On
Hartlepool publications. By joining forces we have been able to bring
you a great resource that acts as a pocket guide to our great town as
well as a thorough compendium of all the arts, performance and
events we have planned for 2012.
Hopefully you will find the guide easy to use. We have colour-coded
the main sections and have included an improved, referenced, foldout
map at the back for you to aid your navigation. Places are
referenced throughout the guide with either the letters TC followed by
a number which means it is in the Town Centre map. Areas on the
Main Map are referenced with an M followed by a letter and a number
to indicate which box within the grid you will find them. For instance
Throston Golf Club is found at M-A3.
Also, look out for a second, smaller, guide released in late-summer
2012. This will be promoting the events programme for the end of the
year and will include those events we could not list within this guide
and those which have been booked since publication.
Mostly known for his figurative work, Jake uses layers of oil paint to give
his paintings their distinct textures. We are pleased to be able to show
Jakes 2009/10 project around the Northern Broadsides Theatres
rehearsals for Euripedes’ Medea. The exhibition also includes a series of
new works specially created by Jake about Hartlepool.
“Balance”
All the stones in the pictures
featured in the exhibition are
balanced, strictly without the aid
of adhesive, pins or computer
manipulation. They remain in
place through the natural force of
gravity and friction. ‘Nature’s
glue’ sustains them in these
seemingly impossible positions.
