3–2. Composition <strong>and</strong> classification<br />

a. Material composition.<br />

(1) Coat, cold weather, woodl<strong>and</strong> camouflage pattern (field jacket). Fabric is nylon <strong>and</strong> cotton sateen, wind resistant.<br />

(2) Enhanced hot-weather coat <strong>and</strong> trousers. Fabric is 50/50 ripstop nylon <strong>and</strong> cotton poplin, in a four-color<br />

woodl<strong>and</strong> camouflage pattern.<br />

(3) Hot-weather coat <strong>and</strong> trousers. Fabric is 100 percent ripstop cotton, in a four-color woodl<strong>and</strong> camouflage pattern.<br />

(4) Temperate coat <strong>and</strong> trousers. Fabric is 50/50 nylon <strong>and</strong> cotton twill, in a four-color woodl<strong>and</strong> camouflage<br />

pattern.<br />

b. Uniform composition.<br />

(1) Beret. The black beret became the st<strong>and</strong>ard headgear for utility uniforms on 14 June 2001. The beret consists <strong>of</strong><br />

a woolen knitted outer shell (lined or unlined) with a leather sweatb<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> an adjusting ribbon threaded through the<br />

binding. The beret is equipped with a stiffener on the left front for the attachment <strong>of</strong> organizational flashes <strong>and</strong><br />

insignia.<br />

(2) Cap, woodl<strong>and</strong> camouflage pattern (patrol cap). The cap has a visor, a circular top crown, a side crown with an<br />

outside crown b<strong>and</strong>, <strong>and</strong> retractable earflaps (temperate cap only; the hot-weather caps do not have retractable<br />

earflaps).<br />

(3) Coat, cold weather, woodl<strong>and</strong> camouflage pattern (field jacket). The coat is lined, hip length with a bi-swing<br />

back, with a convertible st<strong>and</strong>-up collar with concealed hood <strong>and</strong> a slide-fastener front closure, with two breast <strong>and</strong> two<br />

lower pockets. (See fig 3–3.)<br />
