Physical Evidence Manual
Sealing
A proper seal ensures that evidence has not been accessed, altered, compromised, or
lost during storage. A good seal is tamper-proof, is detectable if tampered with, and is
initialed and dated across the seal.
The laboratory cannot accept evidence that is not sealed. This is a policy of the Forensic
Services Division as stated in its Operations Manual.
