III. RECOMMENDATIONS: TRAINING AND TEACHING<br />

The number <strong>of</strong> Computer Programmes in Hindi may be increased by<br />

including o<strong>the</strong>r (training) institutes for <strong>the</strong> conduct <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> programmes.<br />

Shorter duration, topic specific programmes would increase learning.<br />

More facilities, and <strong>the</strong>refore a little more funds, need to be provided<br />

to <strong>the</strong> part-time Hindi teaching programmes. These include higher<br />

honorarium, better pay scales for regular faculty, better support<br />

systems in terms <strong>of</strong> laptops, white-boards etc. and enhanced<br />

incidentals.<br />

The ‘Translation courses’ must continue but, perhaps, renamed to<br />

highlight that <strong>the</strong>y are in <strong>the</strong> nature <strong>of</strong> advanced workshops.<br />

IV. RECOMMENDATIONS: DISSEMINATION AND PUBLICITY<br />

The existing schemes are useful and should continue. The merging<br />

<strong>of</strong> a number <strong>of</strong> small schemes should be explored. Workshops should<br />

not be combined. The DOL may partner with o<strong>the</strong>r training institutions<br />

to make publicity more effective.<br />
