The above table shows that <strong>the</strong>re has been improvement in <strong>the</strong> usage <strong>of</strong><br />

Hindi in <strong>the</strong> government sector, but <strong>the</strong> results in <strong>the</strong> case <strong>of</strong> public sector<br />

banks is mixed.<br />

There are o<strong>the</strong>r evidences, which can be suggestive. The latest<br />

Parliamentary Committee’s data, put on <strong>the</strong> DOL website, indicates that<br />

though <strong>the</strong> percentage <strong>of</strong> staff knowing and trained in Hindi (language,<br />

typing & shorthand) is substantial, <strong>the</strong> usage <strong>of</strong> Hindi in <strong>of</strong>ficial work is not<br />

commensurate. A quick reading through <strong>the</strong> reported proceedings <strong>of</strong><br />

TOLICs, OLICs and o<strong>the</strong>r conferences/workshops etc. (as reported in <strong>the</strong><br />
