Nocturne (RKO) — George Raft, Virginia
Huston, Lynn Bari. Here is another one ol
George Raft's pictures and it is the best one
to date but the other one ruined the boxoffice
for this one. This should get a few of the
music-lovers because of the title. There is
very little piano music in this one but too
much for my liking. Played Wed., Thurs.
here and is an actor who can draw and
They Won't Believe Mo (RKO)—Robert
down to earth, where you don't have such
morbid endings. Played Sun., Mon. 'Weather:
Claire Trevor, Ann Dvorak. 1 would call
this a sleeper. I didn't expect much and
The Warner Newsreels
CAY, has anyone taken time out to congratulate
Warners on the progress
they've made with their newsrecl during
the past two months?
My walkouts on newsreels have been
cut in half, sometliing I didn't think possible.
Warners have a very fine trademark,
excellent background music, and they seem
to go out of their way to bring in laughs
and the unusual. The ending of "Great
Americans" is good also.
If I could get my newsreel a week
Magnificent Doll (U-I)—Ginger Rogers,
David Niven, Burgess Meredith. This is a
KO.M.WCE OF ROSY RIDGE, THE
IM(;M)—Van Johnson, Thomas Mitchell,
Janet Leigh. This excellent picture reveals
the fact that Van Johnson has a
personality we didn't know about. After
several years of Van in variou-s and sundry
officers' unifomu, tuxedos, etc., we find
him at his best in a down-to-earth picture
about plain people down in the
Ozark mountains of MLssouri. I think
Leo should have roared a little louder
about this than he did. Played Tuc-s.,
Marjorie was part of the draw so everyone
We ran "Fight of the Wild Stallions" with
