The above literature suggest that the Chileans in
the SPU Manila program are in a peculiar
situation: their age, the limited exposure to what
could have been their second language in Chile
(English), and their learning locale (Philippines)
where English, while it is the language of
instruction, is not the mother tongue outside the
classroom, thus placing natural limits in learning
English as a second language.
