Meanwhile, attitude, consists of (1) integrativeness
[or “an openness to identify with another language
community, … that would facilitate their motivation to
learn” (p. 172)], and (2) attitude towards the learning
situation.
The former is divided into three major areas,
namely, attitude towards the target language
group; interest in learning the language “in order
to interact, meet, socialize, become friends, etc.,
with members of the other community” (p. 172);
and interest in foreign languages or simply a
general openness to all groups.
