• National organisations with membership between 20001 and 50000

• National organisations with membership over 50000
- Establishment of up to eight development focused positions. The cost
per position (including operational costs) is calculated to average
$55,000. (Approximately 10 organisations involved.)
Total cost: $4.4 million
In addition to the above funding, national sport organisations should be
classified in three categories, as in Part 6 of this report, for elite sport funding
according to their significance to the nation, proven ability to achieve,
participation levels and proven need. Details are shown in 7.4.5.
7.4.3 Funding of Regional Proposals
• Regional Trusts will lead the development of effective regional strategies for
recreation and sport as outlined in 6.9.1. Regions must be supported
through a contract with Active New Zealand which provides funding for
each region’s core work that ensures all geographic areas are served. A
maximum of ten regional contracts should exist. Under each contract
Active New Zealand must provide core funding to ensure the employment
of eight to twelve staff focused on regional recreation and sport
organisations, physical activity strategies, volunteer effort, Maori recreation
and sport, school recreation and sport, funding agencies and local
government. The value of each contract will vary depending upon the
number and size of the recreation and sport organisations and population in
each region.
Total cost: $10 million
• Provision must be made for National Organisations to work in partnership
with each regional trust to establish regional development programmes.
These programmes should be modelled on the pilot SportsForce and
CoachForce programmes currently in operation. Each programme should
be available in each of the ten regional trusts. Total cost per programme
not to exceed $50,000 per activity.
Total cost: $5 million
• Active New Zealand must lead the development of existing national and
regional organisations moving to and operating from a common location
