Directions:
1. Cut (20) 1 1 /2" strips of the Planting Rows fabric. Sew 2 of
these strips together end-to-end, to make 1 long strip
85 1 /2" long. Repeat 9 more times, until you have (10)
85 1 /2" long strips.
2. Cut (8) 5 1 /2" strips of the Mini Poppies fabric. Sew 2 of
these strips together end-to-end, to make 1 long strip
85 1 /2" long. Repeat 3 more times, until you have (4)
85 1 /2" long strips.
3. Cut the length of the Almost a Poppy fabric down to
85 1 /2", setting aside the other 58 1 /2" for the side borders.
From the 85 1 /2" long piece of fabric, cut (4) 10 1 /2" strips
lengthwise, and trim 2 of them to 75 1 /2" long. These (2)
75 1 /2" long strips will be used for the top and bottom
borders. The (2) 85 1 /2" long strips will be used for the
center panels. With the remaining 58 1 /2" long piece of
Almost a Poppy fabric, cut (4) 10 1 /2" strips lengthwise.
Piece 2 of them together end-to-end to get 1 long strip
measuring 10 1 /2" x 115 1 /2". Repeat once for a total of (2)
115 1 /2" long borders for the sides of the quilt.
4. Cut (5) 3 1 /2" strips of the Garden Trellis fabric,
lengthwise, by the full length of the fabric, carefully
centering the border stripe motif.
5. Referring to the quilt image on the cover for placement,
arrange all the 85 1 /2" long strips in order, and piece them
together to make the center of the quilt.
6. Using the 5" half-square triangle paper, cut 64 triangles
from the Poppy Greens fabric, and 64 triangles from the
Planting Rows fabric. Piece together 64 half-square
triangle units, each with 1 Poppy Greens triangle and 1
Planting Rows triangle.

7. Sew together a row of 13 of these half-square triangle
units, always keeping one side of the dark (Planting
Rows) triangle towards the bottom edge of the strip
section (refer to quilt image on cover for suggested
placement and direction). Repeat once for a total of 2
strip sets.
8. Sew 1 of these strip-set borders to the top of the quilt,
and the other to the bottom, again keeping the dark
edge (the Planting Rows fabric) nearest to the center of
the quilt.
9. Sew together a row of 19 of the half-square triangle units,
keeping the dark portion (the Planting Rows fabric) all to
one side of the strip set. Repeat once for a total of 2 strip
sets.
10. Sew 1 of these strip-set borders to either side of the
quilt, keeping the dark portion (the Planting Rows
fabric) nearest to the center of the quilt.
11. Sew 1 of the 10 1 /2" x 75 1 /2" Almost a Poppy strips to the
top of the quilt, and the other to the bottom.
12. Sew 1 of the 10 1 /2" x 115 1 /2" Almost a Poppy strips to
either side of the quilt.
13. Layer the quilt top with batting and backing, and quilt
in the desired fashion.
14. Scallop the outer edge of the quilt, if desired.
15. Bind the quilt with 1 /4" bias binding. Binding strips for
1/4" single-fold binding should be cut at 1 1 /4".
