Almost <strong>Amish</strong> collection by <strong>RJR</strong> <strong>Fabrics</strong><br />

<strong>Quilt</strong>ing shown in light gray is for design purposes only. TIn <strong>Amish</strong><br />

tradition the black fabric would be quilted in black.<br />

Cutting Directions<br />

.<br />

Cut the <strong>Amish</strong> scenes panel into 6-1/2"<br />

squares leaving 1/4" of black around each<br />

scene for the seam allowances.<br />

Cut the <strong>Amish</strong> quilt blocks panel into 15<br />

separate 6-1/2" blocks. Refer to steps 1-2.<br />

This will yield 15 <strong>Amish</strong> scenes blocks.<br />

3.<br />

Cut the mini quilt rows of the <strong>Amish</strong> stripe into<br />

49 sashing strips 2-1/2" x 6-1/2". Center the mini<br />

quilts in each 6-1/2" length.<br />

4.<br />

Cut 30 mini <strong>Amish</strong> scenes 2-1/2" x 2-1/2".<br />

Leave 1/4" seam allowance of black around<br />

each mini scene.<br />

<strong>Quilt</strong> Assembly<br />

Sew the full size <strong>Amish</strong> scene and <strong>Amish</strong><br />

quilt blocks, sew them together into four<br />

rows with the mini quilt sashing strips. Press<br />

toward the sashing strips.<br />

Sew the remaining sashing strips and the<br />

mini quilt squares together. Make 5 rows of 5<br />

sashing and 6 mini quilt squares. Press toward<br />

the sashing strips.<br />

Sew the long border 1 strips to the long sides<br />

of the quilt. Press toward the border strips. Sew<br />

the short border 1 strips to the top and bottom<br />

of the quilt. Press toward the border strips.<br />

Repeat for border 2.<br />

Sew a quilt block to the ends of each short<br />

border 3 strip. Press toward the border strips.<br />

Sew the long outer border strips to the long<br />

sides of the quilt. Press toward border strips.<br />

Sew the short border 3 strips to the top and<br />

bottom of the quilt. Press toward border strips.<br />

Sew row to row. Press away from the sashing.<br />

Layer the backing, batting and pieced top<br />

together. Baste layers.<br />

0. <strong>Quilt</strong> as desired.<br />

Bind using a 1/4" seam allowance. If you wish<br />

to have a wider binding please be sure to trim<br />

the backing and batting (after quilted) larger<br />

than the quilt top. For example if your binding<br />

is going to be 3/8" finished width, cut the<br />

backing and batting 1/8" wider than the top.<br />

Border 2 (5) 2-1/2" x 42" sew end to end and<br />

trim to fit your quilt.<br />

Approximately 41-1/2" x 45-1/2" lengths (2 of<br />

each).<br />

Cut selvage to selvage (crosswise grain)<br />

Border 1 (2) 2" x 37-1/2"<br />

(2) 2" x 42"<br />

Border 3 (2) 6-1/2" x 41-1/2"<br />

(2) 6-1/2” x 49-1/2"<br />

Cut paralell to selvage (lengthwise grain).<br />

Always measure your quilt before cutting<br />

lengths. Adjust as necessary to fit your quilt.<br />

Binding (5) 2-1/4" x 42" strips<br />

Backing 4-1/8 yards, not included in the kit.<br />
