Injuries have really started to hit hard in the
past few weeks at Devonport. The small
number of grand final players from 2010 have
been the hardest hit. Some of the injuries
include Brad Symmons, Sam Hess, Liam
Williams, Corey Plumbridge, Mark Wallace
and Glynn Llewellyn. The positives from these
injuries are the opportunities that are being
given to young players. It seems that every
week there are two new inclusions to the
senior side and last week’s inclusions of Toby
Enniss and Jack Stokes were impressive with
Jack being named in the best players.
This week the club has a major milestone
to celebrate with Rhys Colbeck playing in
his 150th senior game for the Devonport
Football Club. Since making his debut against
Smithton in 2001 at age 19 he has been a
great player for the club and deserves the life
membership he receives for this amount of
games. Rhys has kicked 191 goals for the
club, including 43 goals in both the 2003 and
2005 seasons. Rhys has played in various
positions throughout his time at Devonport
and has proved a valuable asset whether he is
back, forward or in the ruck. Congratulations
Rhys!
