GENERAL INSURANCE BROKERS CLUB NOTES | Round 1 Devonport Magpies - 03 6424 4542 President: Shane Yates Senior Coach: Glenn Lutwyche Founded - 1881 State Premierships - 1988 www.devonportfc.com.au Despite the question marks that have been raised by a majority of outside onlookers, the Devonport Football Club has had a strong pre-season. The club has a strong group of young and enthusiastic players to back-up the remaining core senior group that has remained at the club. The clubs four Mariners players in Liam Williams, Quade Byard, Brennon Kendall and Aaron McNab who are all likely to play regular senior football and bring a great amount of excitement to the side. Also to go with those four states 18s players Devonport have four talented players in the state under 16 squad in Brodie Deverall, Alex Lee, Jackson Cosgrove and Braden van Buuren. Some of whom may make a senior appearance throughout the year. The number of debutants to senior football across the whole club is expected to be around seven players and around half the side will be having a taste state league senior football for the first time against Launces<strong>ton</strong>. On April 1 the club held its Jumper Presentation where supporters were introduced to many new young faces. The night was very successful with around 200 people in attendance giving all supporters a basic outline of what the club is striving for this season and what is to come. Thanks to the Tasmanian football public for supporting a very special occasion at KGV Football Park. Congratulations and a big thank you to all of our volunteers who made last Saturday night possible. It was an absolute outstanding commitment. Congratulations to Shaun Collis, Rhys Mott, Ben Reynolds and obviously Jason Akermanis who made their senior debuts on Saturday night. Congratulations must also go to our new GOLD SPONSOR in 2011 – UNITED HOME LOANS. Rick Field was fortunate enough to have his business entry in the barrel drawn out last. Many thanks to all the local businesses that supported this initiative. This weekend sees another great challenge in Hobart at the TCA. The players still around from the 2010 season will be keen to make amends for our last performance against the Tigers. MEMBERSHIP is now available.
