Welcome to the TCA for our second Sunday
game of the season, today we look forward to
the challenge of playing against the premiers of
the last two seasons in Clarence. Today we have
a football feast with three matches. First up we
have the women in action at 9.30am followed by
the Colts and then the seniors to round off the
day. I hope you enjoy your Sunday at the footy.
Seniors & Colts
Another situation of close games that if our boys
made the most of their moments could have
provided a different result at the end of the day.
The improvement in the Colts was evident again
on the weekend and both sides are on the verge
of winning.
Women’s Team
Last Sunday the women’s team ventured up the
highway to Spreyton, in wet and heavy conditions
the girls put in another good performance and
are working closer to that next win. Today will be a
bigger challenge as they take on the undefeated
Clarence side. If you can’t make it up the highway
to Youngtown next Saturday to watch the seniors
and Colts why not come along to the TCA on
Sunday and support the girls.
The upcoming games are as follows
• Today 9.30am start v Clarence at TCA
• 3rd of July - 12 noon start v North Hbt at TCA
• 10th of July – 12 noon start v Yeoman at TCA
• 17th of July – 1.30pm start v Spreyton at TCA
Graham Fox – Hall Of Fame Inductee
Last Wednesday AFL Tasmania announced
the 2011 inductees to the Hall of Fame; the
inductees featured none other than our current
Club Coach Graham Fox, congratulations to Brer
on his induction to the Football Tasmania HOF.
The following information has been taken from
the AFL Tas media release
Graham Fox was renowned throughout the TFL
during the 1970s and 1980s as a ‘hard as nails’
midfielder who played in successful eras with
Glenorchy, New Norfolk and Hobart. Graham
has continued to serve the game as a coach,
including recent seasons at Hobart.
• Approximately 265 senior games
• Represented Tasmania 6 times
• Regular TFL representative and Life Member of
the TFL
• South Melbourne (now Sydney Swans) for 3
senior games.
• 80 games, Glenorchy; 85 games, New Norfolk;
100 games, Hobart
• Kicked over 200 goals
• Runner up in Best and Fairest and both Hobart
and New Norfolk
• Won the Best Player Award for the initial
Statewide Winfield competition in 1980.
• 2 TFL Premierships New Norfolk 1982 and
Hobart 1990 (Statewide League)
• Coach Kingston, Claremont and Hobart
